My brother 4040CN printer is on a offline mode how
Hello, Open the start menu and click on the "printers and faxes" icon. This will open a window with the list of printers currently set up on your computers.
2. Double click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print job will open.
3. Go to printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and unchecked "use printer offline". This action will change the printer from offline to online mode.
Thanks

Print unable 32
This is not just a density sensor, this is a plastic cover over it that is getting stuck. There is a piece of soft rubber attached to the solenoid that is getting very sticky over time. Removing this rubber and stretching solenoid return spring corrects the issue. Search web for the service manual and follow chapter 8 to disassemble the printer correctly - takes less than 10 minutes to do it

Printer printing out code and screen message is: HEX DUMP MODE
it may be that the settings for the printer is not ok, or probably the software to make the printer work was not installed properly. Try by uninstalling the application for the printer by going to control panel on your computer, then click on add/remove hardware, look for the printer application and uninstall it, restart your system again and reinstall back the application. Then check the settings made on your printer too, if you don't understand how to do that then go through the printer manual for further assistant, if the problem still persist , then take the printer to HP customer service center for configuration and setup. Thanks

GETTING JAM 1
Open the printer. Look for any loose pieces of paper that may be jammed. If not, try closing all the panel firmly and replacing the paper in the tray to make sure it is seated properly.

Printer prints test page and direct prints fine but anything sent from the PC only prints (at most) a thin line (about 2cm/1in) on the left side of the page.
Well, if it ran okay with Windows 8.1 until the last month and if it prints a test page ok, the problem is unlikely to be drum wear or wear of internal parts. You sometimes encounter weird streaking effects if the windows are not clean. Normally, if only one side of a page is being printed, parts are worn or the drum need replacing. But your test page prints out. The only thing I can see that would have changed is --Ta da! -- some automatic update by Windows 8.1. Re-installing drivers doesn't really undo any changes in Windows 8.1 itself or whatever you have installed in the last month or so. (Windows 8.1 experts can stop laughing--I am simply making an educated guess.)
If this were a home setup rather than a work computer, I might see what would happen if I returned the computer to a state prior to "the last month or so." If the printer then worked, you would know it was not a hardware problem but rather what had been installed on the computer after that. Is the printer actually using the Brother driver or is it deferring to a Microsoft driver? Just something for you to check in your device manager. If returning the computer to a former state fixes the problem, you may have to test subsequent installations to determine which one troubles the printer, a tedious process unless a candidate springs to mind.
