My lexmark x3470 wont recognise compatible ink Cartridges any know of a way round this

If the ink cartridges you purchased are not Lexmark - that could be the problem. I used to have a Lexmark printer and I did the same thing - I purchased ink cartridges that were compatible but not Lexmark brand. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print and then I would get the same error sign and low ink message and it would not print. I kept thinking I was doing something else wrong and tried everything. In the end I broke down and got ink cartridges from Lexmark and that solved the problem. Now I have a Brother printer and I never buy anything other than Brother ink cartridges because I'm always afraid of that same thing happening again. I wish I knew which printers WOULD accept those non name brand ink cartridges, but thus far I do not know of any printers that do. Hope this helps you.

X3470 will not power on

If you are encountering power problems with your printer, please go through the following checklist:

  • Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely and directly to the power outlet. Power surge protectors can draw power away from the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet and the back of the printer and then reconnect it.
  • Check the power supply box (if there is one) to see if it is warm or cold, as there could be a defective power supply issue.
  • If there is access to a voltmeter, test the power supply to ensure that it registering the correct amount of voltage (most Lexmark printers have a 30Volt output).
  • Make sure the correct power supply is connected to the printer.
Should the problem continue, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for further assistance.

How do I reset Lexmark x3470 incorrect cartridge error

Try to follow the steps below to determine what is causing the problem and fix the issue:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge. Then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Let me know if this helps.

I have hooked it upto a dell desk top and do not

Hi Sam, It should work with your Dell as long as you put in the right driver to suit your operating System. You dont need a Disk because we download the right driver.First unplug the USB printer to computer cable and go to control Panel/Add and remove programs and uninstall any pre existing lexmark software. Also go to printers and fax's and remove/delete any printer icons that you are not using or apply to your lexmark X3470 printer.Once you have done that go to this link for lexmark and download the right one to suit what version of windows you are running, if my link doesn't work in you country just go to lexmark's web and go to drivers and downloads for lexmark X3470. Here is another Link just in case i stuffed it;)Once you have found the right file run the file,a warning will prompt but choose run again, then choose install and follow the instructions on the next page software will tell you to connect your USB cable so do so when prompted by the Lexmark software. Heres an example for Windows 7 32bit in picsChoose RUN or save it known location if you using slow internet and then open it.Second screen priomping warning run anyway as software is from lexmark and just isnt windows certifiedThird is Lexmark software starting to install on my machine, note Lexmark X3400 Series is compatable with the "70" version of 3400 series ie X3470Let me know how you go, or if you need more helpCheerssoulvisitor10_18_2011_8_32_58_am.jpg10_18_2011_8_33_42_am.jpg10_18_2011_8_34_16_am.jpg

Lexmark X3470 All-In-one Scanner keep on saying it

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you.

It does sound like something's not in the right place when you got it back together. Try to check the encoder strip (transparent strip found behind the cartridge carrier assembly). This is responsible for the carrier's movement along the assembly. Make sure it has not gotten loose.
For mechanical or hardware issues with your Lexmark printer, it's also best to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for some advice before doing anything on your device.

Photos are light with fine

A technique to improve print quality is to try and clean the cartridge nozzles. You may clean the cartridge by following the steps given below: 1. Go to the "Lexmark solution center." This can be done by clicking on "Start," go to "Programs" and Lexmark printer group. Click on the "Lexmark Solution center." Next click on the "Maintenance" Tab. 2. Select "Clean and Fix Horizontal streaks." Click on "Print". This will produce a printed page. The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps. If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean Print Nozzle" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below: 1. Please open the "Solution center" again and go to the "Maintenance" Tab. 2. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge or cartridges from the printer. 3. Get a damp paper towel. 4. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds. 5. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean. 6. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing. 7. Snap the cartridges back into the printer. 8. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge install." 9. Repeat the "Clean Nozzle Page" one more time. If this fails to address the problem the entire procedure may need repeating.Good Luck!!!!
