Sorry the unit itself probally have a major or micro cracks into it PCB board. After it repair by a tv tech. The unit still could be also have bad or damges picture to the LCD screen panel too itself. The unit was drop hard or high up like from 3 or 4 feets? Not worth and a wast of the money for a repair for a drop electronic equipments with a LCD screen panel.Unit now only have 50/50 chances for the unit to work correctly again or without the unit LCD screen panel to have damages or picture to the LCD screen panel be effected.Best just buy a new one.

My 4 year old APD 3955 stopped working. You can
Check the lens, sometimes dirt gets in there. Try to run a DVD cleaning disk... they are sold at many places, they are cheap and you can still use them for cleaning your CD players and DVD players at home. This should fix the problem.... if not ... try to shake the DVD player gently to remove any foreign matter that could be stuck somewhere...good luck!

I have a accurian portable dvd player APD-3955 and
I had the same problem and I found out that is definitely the battery. I had used mine only a few counted times and after 1 year the battery would not charge. I would plug it and the charge light would turn on and stayed for about 4 minutes and then turned off. I called axion and talk to customer support. The tech said that the internal batteries only last for a year whether you use the DVD or not. They would replace the battery for $60 + shipping costs. As you can see... it is not worth it....sometimes you are lucky and get good stuff for cheap but sometimes... you just get what you pay for.... and this is one of the cases. Yes, I am also very disapponted. What a piece of junk!!!! I can still watch DVD with either the charger plugged in or with the car charger. But it lost its Portable side.....

Plays CD's but not DVD
Hi,
This is because the laser wears out over time. DVD requires it to be much more precise then a cd, it gets very technical. Depending on the age of the unit your options are limited. If it's under warranty then contact the manufacturer and have it repaired/replaced. If not I would just buy a new one as there are a lot of sales at this time and you can get them fairly cheap.
Thank you,
lee

Keeps reading "No Disk"
2 things first:
These players have a switch to ensure the lid is closed. Verify if this is ok.
Some discs could have some scratches that turn them unreadable. verify every disc first.

I have an Accurian 8"
if cleaning it does not solves the problem then its necessary to open the player and replace the lens.usually when a dvd player reads "no-disc", even on a new dis, that points to a problem with the laser itself. The laser uses two focus voltages, one for CD and one for DVD.
The most common one i see is DVD Laser current drops and you have to re-adjust it.
It is a bear to do. You have to disassemble the whole unit to get to the laser head, underneath it there is two screws to turn, one is labelled DVD. You have to turn itslightlyone way and reassemble to test.... you can see this is tedious. You can try it, just take the batteries
out and don't lose the screws.
Read more: "I own an 8" ACCURIAN portable DVD/CD player.
in portable dvd players the disassembly instructions are mostly the same in all brands.

if you are not familiar with disassembling and if dont have proper tools to open the player.its advisable to get it repaired from local electronics repair shop.as it will not be too costly issue to get the lens replaced.
thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated,.

Power cord/AC Adapter
Unless your have some technical background and a multimeter, you are risking at least the battery pack of your laptop and worst case, the laptop itself.
Most devices that accept an external adaptor are somewhat protected against applying the wrong polarity of voltage but that protection is primitive and depending on the 'universal' (this really should be 'multipurpose-not 'universal) adaptor used, the protection itself can fail, exposing the circuitry inside the laptop that controls the voltage from the adapter to damaging voltage; this would get much more expensive than replacing the original adapter from the manufacturer of the laptop.
You did not mention the brand/model of laptop you have and with only the adapter listed, we can't help you much.
