Replace the battery. The Triangle and exclamation point mean the battery is in need of replacement.

There are other universal replacements but if it was me I would stick with the honeywell parts. I know they are more expensive but in your instance where you already have a problem that is causing the control panels to fail I'm afraid you would make it worse by using other then factory replacements.Thank you

The hermostat is a switch contact that works n the selected temperature, nothing more elaborate. For a wireless thermostat, all you need is power fr the receiver and the cntact connection. The thermostat transmitter works on battery power.

Off position then reverse batteries polarities and wait 5 sec. Then place new batteries back to normal position.

I have not seen this issue and the manual gives you the option of either off or dim to high upon key depress. Manual: 0280 Backlight 0 Backlight on for approx. 8 seconds after keypress 1 Backlight always on low intensity, full bright after keypress (requires 24VAC connection).
