FMV145KB3 EXHAUST FAN AND UNDERNEATH LIGHTS WILL

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights fan can be inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly affect the exhaust fan operation, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Does not heat up food

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

Exhaust vent won't turn off

I've found information on models FMV145KB3 and FMV145KS3 but not FMV145KF3, but this should still apply.

This will be either a shorted hood vent thermostat on the floor of the chassis of the oven, or a shorted triac or relay on the control circuit board.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

d:%5cele%5crepair%5cmicrowave%5cge_hotpoint%5cmini_manual_behind_grille_small.jpgAt our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If it's a thermostat, you should be able to get it
here.

If the thermostat is good (reads open) then the problem will be on the control circuit board.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Replaced diode and fuse started unit work for 50

If it went dead several seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

You may find that this part is uneconomical to replace.

Here is a link you or someone you know can use to test it, but please read the safety info:

MICROWAVE WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL

Have u checked to make sure the outlet the Microwave was plugged into is hot? if so the smoke has shorted the microwave emitter tube or the control circuit to it, these are throw away appliance's in most cases, but first check the back of the microwave for a possible fuse or circuit breaker (it will be a small plastic button) near where the power cord goes in.

also go to this page to read more about common problems with Microwaves.

MICROWAVE NOT HEATING ANYTHING?

If it is working but not heating, then test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron. If all this are fine, test the control board.

The diodeand capacitors can be tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, evenif power is off.Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Before replacing the magnetron test also the control board.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

You can also order from MicrowaveSvc , they also provide parts.

Light no longer working

Most microwave ovens I have worked on the procedure is...
UNPLUG the microwave.
Remove the screws (along the bottom sides and the back of the oven) holding the the outer cover to the unit.
Remove the outer cover and the lightbulb will be visible.
Unscrew the bulb and head to the hardware store for a replacement.
Reverse above procedures.
Hope this helps.

Whirlpool microwave will not heat

I suggest to NOT try and fix this yourself as it is radiation. Something has obviously gone wrong in the radiation producing parts so please contact the manufacturer and they should be able to send someone out if still under warranty for free or for a price if not. If under warranty and this was not at your fault they will also supply parts and/or replace the microwave.

Food not heating in microwave

Magnetron tube probably failed. Depends on how old the microwave is. If its still under warranty, call Frigidaire. If not, take it to a repair shop, get an estimate, and compare it to a new one. It'll probably be cheaper to buy a newer one that will have more power, but check anyway.

Everthing working with microwave except

This can be caused by a number of causes: a bad magnetron tube (which generates the microwaves), failed transformer or other power supply parts, bad control board or relay on it, bad door switch. Microwave servicing exposes hazardous voltages, and could lead to microwave leakage if repairs aren't done properly. Repairs should be handled by a professional.

Microwave oven

It may be a door switch, or a failure in the high voltage electronics. Microwave ovens are so cheap these days that they are generally not worth repairing. Do not attempt repair yourself, as there are LETHAL voltages present, even when off & unplugged.

Lights under the microwave won't turn off

The problem is in the control board of the microwave. We repair these circuit boards nationwide for this problem for only $32.50. For more information you can do a search on Yahoo.com (not Google) for: microwave circuit repair It's a good idea to also send a copy of the technical note sheet from inside the oven when you send the assembly in for repair. This problem is caused when the bulbs are disconnected (or blow apart from) the sockets while the power is on. Power should always be disconnected before replacing bulbs, but sometimes they just fail on their own and short, causing them to "blow" like yours did. Also, be sure to avoid cheap bulbs, as we feel they have less chance of shorting and may hold up better.

Hello

I would think you have a failed keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

CFMV145--thermal Cutout Question

On this model, you can find the wiring diagram and exploded views at this site http://www3.sears.com (the 3 is correct)

In fact, the diagram you need most is here:

The hood TCO (normally open) has grey and red wires on it going to pins 7 & 5 of connector CO 02 on the circuit board.

The other TCOs should read normally closed.

Hi\
Well it moslikly the problem is a bad switch , there located insde the unit, it's posible the plastic made like lever that turns the switches on or off is jamed or broken.
To check them unplug the unit , open the cover, with an ohm meter check to see if they turn on or off. Basic electrician rull, most of them don't know this.
If all seem to be ok, double check, It's mostlikly 99% your problem , the other percentage is a bad board cause by a bad keypad or board, witch it's very small.

Regards
Bob
ps if it's the keypad or board like all other 99% of population tuss it out, keep in mind don't complain there to mutch air polution your also a cause of the problem.

Frigidaire FMV145DB2 over the range microwave

I'd say you have a bad or contaminated keypad. It's extremely unlikely that your control panel is bad. Sadly, there are some shops out there that just replace the whole assembly and are not able to troubleshoot and repair them like we do. Just in case, I would suggest you try to reset it by unplugging it for a few mintues then plugging it back in. Moisture and contamination can be caused by not using the hood fan when boiling on the stove top, by spraying of cleaners, by storing the microwave in an unheated garage or shed, or by infestation. I warn my customers to never spray cleaner directly onto the microwave keypad, since the liquid can get inside and "lock up" or even ruin the keypad or controller. Apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) to a cloth (paper towels can scratch) and gently wipe it off. I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics. If a reset didn't fix it, then you probably have a bad keypad. Replacing the keypad (if it's available as a separate part) is not too hard for a service tech or handy person. Frigidaire is at 1-800-374-4432 Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm EST. I'd call to see if it's available. Concerning the turntable motor, $139 is an insane price! Sounds like your repair person didn't want to work on it and was trying to get rid of you! Sad... Try Appliacne Parts Pros at http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Reply back if you need more help.

My Frigidaire Galaxy microwave came on by itself - very hot and fan running. I could not shut it off It was. Purchased in January, 2017.

My 2021 Frigidaire also turned on by itself 2 days ago. It also got hot and would not turn off except at the breaker. After 10 minutes I turned breaker on and the microwave was still on. Turned breaker on the next morning and all good. We are afraid to leave house unless we turn breaker off. Any suggestions? Do I need a new microwave?
