20 Most Recent Frigidaire FMV156D Microwave Oven Questions & Answers

Good Morning Paul, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

For the above-listed Frigidaire model number, FMV156D, it is not recommended to use a bulb larger than 30 watts. Your microwave does not have an option available to adjust the lights. If the light is dimmed, than more than likely your microwave is experiencing an issue with the control board, a potential wiring failure, or faulty light socket. Regrettably, this is not a simple DIY job. I would strongly recommend connecting with a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause. You can often locate a qualified service provider through the manufacturer website.

It's not a difficult do it yourself job on most ovens.
With your model number, I could have given you details including the part number.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the photo below) and then you'll see any screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how to sepearate the panels.

You can find handy exploded views and order parts for most parts by entering your model number here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Frigidaire microwave FMV156DSB. Turntable don't turn and no heat. Clock, keypad, light and fan works. The guys above looks like they right about either the door or the switches for the latch. This model does have two switches and a fusible switch. Pushing up a bit on the oven door from the bottom right corner when its closed make mine turn on if you set it to cook. Switches numbered 8(x2) on the schematic has part number 5304440026 $18.05. Fusible switch has part number 5303319559 $30.36. Have'nt changed them because it may be the door hinge is bent since the door latch is made out of plastic. Also looks like a real pain to take apart just to get to the switches. I will try to bend the door hinge to see if it fixes it. "And..now." -- Kirk, "Huh?" -- Scotty, "The doors, Mr. Scott." --Kirk, "Aye. I'm workin' on 'em."

Slacken off the lower hinge screws and re set the door to the correct height, then tighten them back up.
That should sort that out.

You will need to have the switch replaced.

There are three parts that will trigger this problem, the magnetron "common issue" or the high voltage capacitor and diode, if the magnetron is the problem it is cheaper to replace the microwave oven for a new one.

replace busted fuses on pcb board then check heater if ok.then observe unit

I would check the door interlock switches and condensation on the control panel

That would be a bad bottom door switch or its mount.

The service manual is at our site here.

If everything works except that it does not heat the food, then the problem is due to the magnetron circuit has failed. It is made of three parts, the magnetron (the part the generates the microwaves that heat the food), the transformer and the high voltage diode. Typical failures are the magnetron shorts out, and when the oven tries to heat the food, a loud buzzing sound can be heard. The magnetron for your oven cost more then $100 so repairing the oven is rarely cost effective. Sorry.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. There are 4 different doors for this microwave see this link:

http://specsserver.com/CACHE/FRJVHRUTDMYQ.PDF

Item 58 is the door handle

Part numbers are:

5304440323 - - - - Handle, door, black

5304440325 - - - - Handle, door, bisque
5304440324 - - - - Handle, door, white
Stainless handle not listed.. I assume it is a black handle

This has to be one of the more expensive microwave door handles I have ever experienced.

The least expensive source I found was at sears parts direct.
5304440324 Handle door white Price $88.80
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/5304440324/0022/628?pathTaken=partSearch&filterPart=&pop=flush

5304440323 Handle door black Price $98.97
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/5304440323/0022/628?pathTaken=partSearch&filterPart=&pop=flush

5304440325 Handle door bisque Price $88.80
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/5304440325/0022/628?pathTaken=partSearch&filterPart=&pop=flush

Note that Item 51 of the first link (top one) is the complete door assy. Also Item 60 is the door HANDLE screws (2 ea)

Just from looking at the diagrams in the first link, it appears item 56
Frame, choke cover, inner door
must be removed to gain access to the handle screws.

I looked up many sources for the handle assembly because I had a hard time believeing the handle was so expensive. Sears was by far the cheapest source.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hello there:
The carousel won't turn Although the carousel is usually driven by a small motor that's unrelated to the heating function of the microwave, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened to repair it.. Inspect the plastic drive coupling that the tray sits on, as well as the ring-and-roller assembly, to make sure that they're working properly. if not replace it and check all of the wiring to the motor with a meter to see if there is any continuity to it if not there is a problem with the motor itself or the wiring harness ok?
