Original cost of my fridge from 1999

2389 model Jeff of Clayton, CA Original review: June 2, 2006 We purchased a Jenn-Air JCD2389GES side by side four years ago. We thought we were buying a quality refrigerator, with a name brand that was respectable and with the idea that you get what you pay for. We went ahead and spent $2200 on purchasing this and within a year noticed that it made noises, the refrigerator side didn't stay cold and the freezer side froze food that developed freezer burn with in a week. Just this past week the refrigerator was on the coldest setting and the food was slightly above room temperature. A hundred dollars of food had to be thrown away. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The best way to find old prices is to find reviews. The best ones are on websites that do reviews themselves as they always list the price. https://www.google.com/search?q=jenn-air+jcd2289atb+review ..

Can't adjust trisensor climate control. Stuck at 0 and 38 and is freezing things in fridge compartment.

It's a Jenn-Air, you will need a service call. They are totally electronic and very complex. Look in the manual first as there may be a child lock function on the controls. It sounds like a thermister has failed though which is a temperature control device. It shouldn't freeze at 38'F, 6' above freezing.

Jenn-air side by side refrigerator the ice maker works but the water dispensor doesn't. You can hear a hum in the door when the lever is pressed.

Possible faulty water solenoid valve may be the problem not letting water through.

I have a Jenn aire

Just like any cooling system, they are highly dependent on the heat exchangers being clean. Over the years, they will collect dust, dirt, insects, human hair, etc., that eventually clog the heat exchangers, radiators, condenser coils, or whatever you want to call them. Unplug the refrigerator. Pull away from wall. Remove rear panels (no special tools required). Once panels are off, you can see the compressor and condenser coils, and all the afore mentioned dust accumulations. Clean everything carefully. Once done, put it back together, turn it on and allow 24 hours to determine if cooling capacity has returned. It is very useful to have internal thermometers to test your freezer and fridge temps before/after. Now, if no improvement, then your thermostat could be failing, preventing the compressor from running long enough. However, before going down a long laundry list, perform the cleaning steps first, then report back for additional support. REFRIGERATOR KEEPS TRIPPING THE GFCI OUTLET

A GFCI detects shorts in an electrical system and isolates power to prevent that device from harming other components upstream. GFCI's do go bad so that possibility exists. However, I would recommend trying to plug in your refrigerator into another outlet in your kitchen that has a different GFCI plug. If it does not trip then the GFCI needs to be replaced. If you do not have another available GFCI outlet and you plug it into a regular outlet, your breaker for that service line MAY trip. Better off testing with another GFCI. If your second GFCI trips, then the problem is with your refrigerator...meaning you have a short in your refrigerator. If you think this is something you can troubleshoot...BE CAREFUL!!! Always unplug your refrigerator before going into the components of the refrigerator. One thing you can do is turn both the freezer and refrigerator temperatures OFF or to their lowest setting. Plug your refrigerator in and see if the GFCI trips. If it trips you have a major short...probably in the bottom of the refrigerator. If it does not trip, turn the freezer temperature on first and see if it will run without tripping the GFCI. If it runs, then turn the freezer temp OFF. Then repeat the process testing the refrigerator components. Ice makers have been known to generate shorts in the system as well. There are various ways to troubleshoot a fridge. If you do not have the required electrical troubleshooting skills then PLEASE call a service technician.
