Jenn Air Built In Microwave JMC8127DDS - no power to the unit. I've removed all the screws I can see, but can't get the microwave to slide out to see if it is plugged in.

Be advised that they are heavy. You may need 2 people to check this. The bracket may have a lip on the wall section that you have to take the weight off of to move it.

When you push cook time and a time, or just hit

Highly likely your microwave has "failed". Down inside the microwave is a part called the Magnetron. This is the part, (about the size of your fist), that makes the sound waves to cook the food. On some models, it can fail, whilst all the other stuff works. 3 possibilities: 1) You need a fuse replaced. 2) You need a capacitor replaced (That part "starts" the magnetron) or 3) you need a new magentron. In any regard, very often people will not opt to have it repaired, because the labor & parts can cost more than a new Microwave. God bless your efforts.

How to remove JMC8127DD from cabinet

The wiring diagram for the microwave shows it is separate and distinct.Usually slid-in counter top microwaves in this cubbyhole configuration have a trim piece surrounding & covering the front edges of the oven on all sides like a picture frame.Normally you remove 4 or more screws in the trim frame, pull the frame off, then slide the oven out a little (there may be a locking tab on the cubbyhole's rails for safety) to unplug the cord, and then slide it out the rest of the way.You can find installation instructions and other literature for this model for free download here. You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts and accessories for it here.

Insulation in oven door came loose

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screw(s) you need to remove. 9f32bc4.jpg Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done. In some cases, you then have to gently rotate the handle to unlock it. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here. Where is the high voltage fuse on a microwave

The thermal fuse monitors the magnetron temperature and cuts power, if it gets to hot and resets in no more than 20 to 30 minutes. Unplug microwave oven, remove top, "several screws" look over to the right, thermal fuse is mounted on top on the inner chassis, "round and thick with 2 wires clipped on"

Jenn Air built in microwave

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand you have a Jenn Air over the range (OTR) microwave, correct ? I can tell you on most microwaves with these symptoms you're dealing with a bad control or a faulty secondary switch, (if you check your diagram you should see three or more door switches...typically 3).

Before going too far though, if you could double check the model number and confirm it is indeed JennAir, I'd be better equipped and most certainly able to help without generalizing...the info above appears to be only partial.

Also anything further you can add will help in a speedy solution. Can you elaborate on what you've done to "check the lock" ? Does the unit make any sound when the start is pressed ? A click ? Or do the digits in the display just count down without any other function...other than what you stated regarding the interior light ?

I can guide you on accessing these switches, controls etc. or changing them, but I'll need to clarify the model as I mentioned before going forward.

I will watch for your post and I'll continue to help in any manner I can. Good luck

Regards,

Macmarkus :)
