Remote does not work. Have relaced remote and receiver. Fan and light turn on and off at any time by themself!!

Change the frequency settings. Your neighbor's fan is probably on the same setting you have now. If you didn't have problems before you put in the new receiver, change to original settings.

The chain controlling the fan speed broke off

You need to take off the cover and you will see screws holding in the chain and the mechanism. You can go to home depot, lowes, ace and match the mechanism to the one you have and it will have all the speeds.

I've changed the batteries in my callaway II remote but the dead battery sign (a battery with an X through it) is still blinking. How to fix?

That's what happens when you buy low-end store brands. Probably need a new transmitter,

Fan unit not responding to the remote to change speeds

The red light on the remote is the battery indicator light. You probably need a new capacitor. Take off switchcup & check black box to see if it is going bad.

Tried to install a ceiling fan to replace a

Trip the breaker and verify that the fan/light will not operate. If tripping the breaker kills the circuit and flipping the wall switch would not, the switch is probably bypassed. Place the wall switch to "off" with the breaker tripped to the "off" position as well. Gain access to your wiring connections at the fan. Look for a single (black) wire that is not connected. This should be your hot return from the wall switch Make your fan/light connections to this wire. (Are you sure that the ground wire that you connected is a ground? If it is, it should be bare copper with no insulation). Your white (neutral) connection to the three white wires should be fine. If you don't find a single wire in the ceiling box, call on an electrician. Regards --WoobieDog--

My remote shows 100 percent light but cannot figure out how to adjust brightness downward. Is this possible to do?

Do you have a dimmer switch in line? If not you need one and if you do check your wiring at the switch.
