How do i replace the switch on my system
Dear sir,
Welcome to Fixya
No worry ! I will help you!
According to you, your PC switch is faulty.I am right?
Before replacing switch, you have to confirm the problem is from switch side,or from any other side. To confirm this, remove side cover of your PC cabinet, search for front panel connections of mother board, check for loose contacts. If it is correct, remove power button jack from the board.Take one plat head screwdriver, short +ve and -ve ends of MBD frontpanel power ON switch terminals. If your PC starts normally, PC switch is faulty, you have to replace switch. If PC fails to switch on problem is not from switch side.
Steps To Replace PC power ON switch.
Remove both side covers of cabinet then, remove front glossy panel which is having power on switch. After removing glossy front panel, open the lock of power ON switch, then replace it with new switch.
I think it helps

Can I replace a KTBC51G LF with a GTBC51G
Yes, I have replaced my GT4022 with a new KTBC51G LF. All conections are the same. This board is faster, it needs DDR2 Memory not DDR1. Since You have a old 939 slot for your cpu. The new board comes with newer AM2 cpu/processsor support with newer DDR2 memory support.
Forgot log on password
Troubleshooting lost or forgotten passwords:- Make sure Caps Lock is turned off.
- For Notebook computers, make sure Num Lock is turned off.
- If the password has special characters in it (examples: ! * $ # +), make sure you press the SHIFT key (not the CTRL key) when entering the password.
- Try these common default passwords:
- Administrator
- Password
- Leave password field blank
- If you are unable to correctly enter the password after using the previous steps, the only option is a format and reload of the computer with all data removed from the drive.
Were can i get a reset password disk

Where does the power switch plug in at on the motherboard
You can download the .pdf manual for your computer
Click Here you will have to log in a free account to access the download file but what the hey free manual. It will explain all you need to know about your machine. If you do have a manual you can find it there. Just guessing without seeing the computer you have it is in the back where the power cord goes in at. Not really sure what you are asking maybe some other person may know what your asking. But the power supply plug in from what I have seen are int he rear of the Case. John
Missing Sound Device
Possibilities are that sound driver might have been corrupted during restore.
So try reinstalling the driver from the mother board's driver cd.
It should do the job for you.
Rarely the worse happens when the mother board's sound card is corrupted, even so you can add an adiitional sound card to mother board and can get back the sound..
But mostly it is the first situation you are facing,.. so reinstalling the sound card driver should do the job for you. It is only the software oriented problem
I have a gateway gt4022 running windows xp. When
Probably hardware failure. To test that remove all disks and extra components and try again to boot into BIOS. If you can't then you will know for sure. If you can then take the opportunity to change the boot order and put the cd first and the hd second. Now connect an optical unit and try to boot in a bootable disk, preferably a Linux Live-CD. If you can then the hard disk is dead, replace it.
Gateway GT4022 Motherboard Failure
The capacitors in the onboard power supplies fail. There are usually visible signs in the form of the ends of the caps being swelled up. Happens to monitors too, and not just the Gateway brand is affected. It's not bad design, but the capacitor makers made a batch (and it's a big batch!) of parts with bad chemistry, and sold them to lots of manufacturers. Replacing the caps fixes the problems, but the work involves good soldering skills. Yeah, you can go buy another brand, but given what I just shared with you, you may find problems again. Even the replacement parts can go bad. Regarding your class action idea, yeah you can sue anybody for anything these days but bear in mind: the manufacturer's warranty sets the terms, and you agreed to those terms when you bought the product. The warranty is a legal and binding contract both ways. And if it has expired, it has expired. The only exception may be specific state laws that mandate rights or extensions not specified in the warranty contract. Your class-action is then limited to owners within that state's jurisdiction.
I was scaning my computer
If this continues to happen you will either need to use System Restore to bring the system back to a time before this happened or reload the OS. If you can get to a dos prompt, try running chkdsk.
Does it matter what brand of ram I upgrade my
The brand itself shouldn't matter, but you must make sure you are using the correct format (DDR2, DDR3, etc.) as well as the proper bus speed (relative to the RAM already installed). Also, it is generally said that all RAM should be of identical brand (in this case I assume it would be a prorietary Gateway type), but you should be okay as long as the bus speed and type are the same.
My computer had many problems,
mariarim format the drive and then reformat the harddrive with a clean os if it still continues the system will have to be taken in to be repaired
Comp shuts down when windows open up
While windows is starting computer is going off check the followings
- the power cable connected properly
- it could be a power supply issue also
- monitor has power or not while system is booting to windows.
- CPU fan is running or it is moving too fast
- If fan is not working then it is sure that due heat system is going off,in that case need to check the cable of the CPU fan, need to re-seat the cable and if required change the cable and fan.
- It could be the heat sink also, better replace that while you will change the fan.
- You can also check if the processor fan is moving or not ,if it is not moving in that case you need to replace the motherboard instead of repairing it.
