Cd drive won't open
Sometimes a bad disc can cause this. You can stick a paper clip in the hole by the eject button to open it. If it isn't opening with the button though I'd replace the drive.
Continuous beeps, no display
Usually continuous beeps from an hp means the power supply unit is acting up.It is not switching on the power required for the mobo to boot up. Could also be ram prob but then the beeps tend to have a break b4 repeating. try booting with HDs disconnected. If no result. clean rams teeth with a eraser and try again. If still beeping try another power supply unit. It does not have to be identical similar will do. Once you isolate the cause of the non boot you can decide if you want to do a patch work repair or fix with originals

It sounds like the power supply is failing. This computer has an odd size power supply. You could try another power supply from another computer and see if it boots up just connect it from the outside of the case temporarily . If it is the power supply you could remove the power supply to measure it and search online for the correct one. I just did a Google search and there were alot of option to choose.
