HP Compaq dc7600 PC Desktop Questions & Answers
I have a dc 7600 desktop when i install win 7 32
If your PC meets the minimum specifications ie 1Ghz CPU and 1Gb of Ram then it should be able to run Windows 7. You can try repairing the installation by following the instructions below :
- Place the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
- Press a key when you are prompted.
- Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
- Click Repair your computer.
- Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
- The computer should automatically give you an option for startup repair, if not proceed with step 7
- In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
- Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.
When the repair is done remove the Windows 7 disc and reboot the PC.
Hope that works for you.
5 Beeps with red light.
Well those beeps tells you that something is going wrong with the hardware. Could be the memory/processor or something going bad on the motherboard.
Well you could try a few things (new memory/harddrive/removing all PCI cards except the video card) to try to isolate the problem.
But you probably end up at the computer store where technicians can take a look at it. So I would go there first since it's probaly gonna take some time to figure it out anyway.
Also try to remove anything you installed recently. Good luck!
Hanging after memory count
Sounds like your boot files are corrupt or some system files are corrupt. You can try clicking Start/All Programs/Accessories and look for the CMD (command) Prompt. If you don't see it you can click the RUN and in the box type cmd and press enter. A black window should appear allowing you to type in commands. Type the following command: sfc /scannow (which is the system file checker and let it run). When it finishes, try rebooting. If you still have the problem type the following command: chkdsk /r The Check Disk command might tell you that volumes are locked or that it will run the next time you restart your computer. In either event it's safe to click yes or ok to let it run. It will run for an hour or more and you will notice the percentage of completion going from high to low but that is ok. Just be patient and let it run until it finishes then reboot.
Where is the battery located on a dc7600
The battery is a little silver disk about 1" in diameter. It will be located on the motherboard. When you open the case it can easily be seen. It is a #2032 battery and you must remove it carefully. There will be one side of the socket that has a piece of spring metal that holds it in. Depress this spring and you can pry the battery out with a small screwdriver.
