Follow these steps on how to install the cartridge: 1. Make sure the printer is on. 2. Lift the access cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the printer is busy. 3. Press down on the left cartridge carrier lever to raise the cartridge carrier lid. 4. Remove the used print cartridge(if you are replacing). Insert the new black cartridge in the left carrier. 5. Snap the lid closed.

Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the printer from the power source.

2. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer.

3. Remove the used cartridge.

4. Load the new black cartridge. Close the cover.

5. Plug the printer back to the power source.

Hi Not sure witch windows you have so I put the XP and Vista just click on the one you need.

Make sure you are using the correct cartridges for your printer. Try to remove your cartridges from your printer. Close the cover. Unplug and replug your printer into th power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert your cartridges. If that doesn't help, try to clean the print cartridge nozzles. Open the Lexmark Solution Center on your computer -> From the Maintenance tab, click Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Click Print. A page will then be printed, forcing ink through the print cartridge nozzles to clean them.

Try uninstalling any unnecessary software applications you might have (Control Panel->Add/Remove programs).
Failing that, you can also remove any files you may have sitting around in the "My Documents" folder that are not necessary, or move them to another hard disk at least.

There may be times when the cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position when you open the cover and the printer is on. If this happens, try to unplug the printer from the power source. Open the cover, hold the white strip and carefully drag the carrier to the center. Remove your used cartridges and load the new ones. Take printer program completely out and then restart computer and then plug it in...windows update will find it for you

For that you need to uninstall all usb drivers from device manager then it automatic install all usb drivers.For that right click on my computer icon then click on property then click on hardware->device manager then you can see all drivers list uninstall all usb drivers 1 by 1 then it will automatic install all usb drivers. then uninstall printer driver from control panel->add remove program then download driver from below link and install.Also make sure usb cable is working fine. If you are printing from a word processor(like microsoft word) you can just increase the font size. Choose A4 as the document size to get exactly the same sized characters on paper.
