I can't get on line
Then the onboard Ethernet circuit has also been fried. Go in the BIOS and disable it then install a simple PCI LAN card (that can be bought for less than $15 at every pc shop) to get a new ethernet connection.

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

After pressing POWER button i get 2 long beeps --
Two beeps means that you need to check your RAM. Try changing the RAM module and see if it working? If you have any display card (AGP/VGA/PCI or PCI express) installed then you need to check that it is properly inserted in the slot in the motherboard. Also check for any loose connections in display card.

Beep problem
Hello niceguy_jes2,
click on this link for the ambulance like sound beep description:
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
"High frequency beeps while running". "Check the CPU fan for proper operation. Check the case for proper air flow".
First item to check would be CPU's fan speed. To do this, enter your bios menu. Listed there is "H/W Monitor". Open it. Check the fan speed, CPU temperature & mother board temp. Chances are the CPU fan is turning too slow & it may need to be replaced. (No less than 2300RPM's). Average CPU fan's spin at 3000 plus).
Next item if CPU fan is ok. The thermal grease between the heat-sink & CPU may have dried up over time & cause the CPU to get too hot. You may need to remove the CPU & heat-sink assembly. Clean off all old thermal grease from the bottom of the heat-sink & from the CPU. If you do this, do not scratch either surface. Use house hold alcohol on a clean rag & wipe away all old thermal grease. Apply a tiny amount of new thermal grease. Re-assemble & check through bios H/W monitor, CPU temp. One or the other will stop the system beeps.

I want to speed up
You can add ram, thats the quickest easiest and most bang for your buck and time. You need to make sure you get the appropriate type of ram and that you run your ram in what is called parallel. The best bet is pull the ram you've got off of the board. Take it to your local computer shop and get a couple of new sticks of ram. Nothing smaller than 512mb/each but some systems won't let you do more than 2GB total. Which may mean (2) 1Gig sticks of ram.
If you want to try the free route, dump all the old files you don't need/use. Uninstall old programs you don't use and run your disk defragmentation software.

Lose of Master Harddrive
have a check with the BUS cable once try replacing the BUS cable which is connected to the HARDDISK .. there may be some problem in the IDE BUS CABLE...
you can fix that by replacing with the new one ...
this problem is not where related to BIOS ..
because if there is any problem in the IDE BUS CABLE means you will face this problem ..
there is one more case it is not oftenly seen actually ..
ie if there is any problem in harddisk means you will face this problem ..
normally the harddisk will work without any problem for 10+ years ...
in very special cases the harddisk failure occurs which is called as catastrophic failure ie the harddisk makes some hissing noise before when it attempts run , this problem may be due to some manufacture defect or if the harddisk is not being used for a long period of time (may be years) ...
so just have a check with things everything will be alright ..
thank you
bye
any doubts you can reply me
i am always here to assist you
please rate my solution
have a nice day
