Will not install os windows

Check your system bios to ensure that ata is your chosen hard drive for installation. if you attempt to install on the mother boards default of ahci wich is windows vista or 7 default it will not work in order to install windows xp you must choose ata. as far as weather a 64 bit install is necessary, 32 bit will work on both but 64 bit windows must be installed on a 64 bit motherboard.

I have Mercury KVM800M VIA

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

My system only boots as

Good Morning! and wish you a Happy New Year2011. 1. Visual checkup of the Motherboard: See for any defective capacitors on the board near Processor. A defective capacitor will have a tapered surface and a good one will be flat, on the top. You need to service motherboard. Most of the motherboards carry 3-years warranty. asian_snake_0.jpg 2. RAM problem: try to put your RAM chips in another slot if vacant. if you have two slots and both are occupied, then try starting system, by placing one RAM at a time and in each slot alternately. If any combination works then you can make out if and whether your RAM or its slot is faulty. 3. Hanging due to overheating: Before you get the message "Press F1....", pres PAUSE key several times, it should halt the process and the message will not be displayed. This will make sure that the system is halted by pressing the PAUSE Key. After one minute, release pause by pressing any other key and see if you can move further. There may be two possibilities . . . a) If you are still in the same position, where you have paused the system. The system is halted due to CPU over-heating. Clean the CPU fan with blower or a vacuum cleaner. See, if all of the locks of the CPU FAN and the heat-sink are intact. If the fan itself is not rotating, check for the fan cable and if it is OK, then try replacing CPU Fan. b) You have reached the same point where it used to stuck before, i.e. at "Press F1...". Now this means your system has halted while detecting other peripherals or add-on cards. i. HARDDISK: Most possible cause is your HARDDISK is making "click-click" sound and not getting detected. Switch off system and remove all HDD cables (Power and Data both). Start your system and see if you get any message like "insert system disk" this means there is problem with your HARDDISK. the same problem may be caused due to CDROMs. try same and try again. ii. SMPS POWER SUPPLY: This symptom may be caused due to inadequate power supply. You can change SMPS and make sure if the problem is due to power supply. iii. ADD-ON CARDS: Remove any add-on card like, Sound card, Graphics card, Modem and switch on the system. if system starts, then turn-off PC. Try placing one card at a time. and start system to make out which card is making the problem. If the problem remains, get back to us. Have a nice day!
