VIDEO DISAPPEARS THEN LAPTOP GOES INTO SLEEP MODE

Ok, it could be a few things. The power setting could be wrong or the laptop lid switch is faulty. I would change the power settings to always on and recheck the issue. Also, when the video is on move the lid until the video goes out. You should almost get to the close position before it goes off. Also tap or burp the back of the LCD display. Sometimes a bad display ribbon causes this too.

I have a 3-yr old

This site tells you how to do it. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-broken-lcd-screen-lenovo-x60s-laptop/
And this site sells the screens.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TPZ7WY?ie=UTF8&tag=pct07-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003TPZ7WY
Screen replacement is delicate and time consuming. As a service tech, I would expect the cost to replace to be around $100.

Whats the process after I hook up the vga to

To get the screen to display on your external monitor instead of on the lap top?

Press the Blue FN button with F6

or maybe it's Blue FN button with F7 until your monitor shows the image.

I've had the most success by pressing this key combination once and waiting 3-5 seconds to see if the display changes.

Press again until the desired display comes up.

Good luck !

Lenovo X60 Laptop blue screen

Try to go into safe mode by pressing F8 as soon as you turn on the laptop.

If you get into safe mode then go into system restore and choose a date when the laptop was working properly. Let it rollback to that date and reboot the computer and let it go and see if it goes back into windows.

If you get a blue screen even when trying to go into windows then the operating system is corrupted and you'll need to do a factory restore on the laptop, meaning the hard drive would have to be wiped out and the operating system put back onto the hard drive.

SL500 does nothing when power

remove the battery large. then run on AC pack only #1 top failure of all mobile PC is that battery, so unplug it then test with AC pack only. work now.? and all vents must be clean, end to end. not just fan. there i no fuse it uses current regulator, imagine genius magic electronics fuses that never blow out, and bingo. OK big battery out, an RTC coin cell fresh. then fan blows. next is BIOS, do the BIOS screens work if not the mobo is dead. have 2 RAM stick on the 2 slots>? try one at a time run the PC with all modules removed, (options) remove hdd? remove, dvd drive. think like this. Get bios working first learn that modules can short, and when they do the power regs shut down. so we unplug all things to the mob, until only 1 ram and cpu remains. see? (this is called power overload fault isolation tactics) even the screen only can be dead, you never mention text showing you can test the mobo with external screen via that rear (?)_ VGA jack what if that worked, did you learn something here, sure. this pc has tons of modules to pull, even bluetooth. wifi, sound and more. if you look at all parts inside or sold by ebay, bingo. lots

I need a download for owners manual for think pad # t 140

Oddly, I did find a page offering recovery discs for such a system. Go figure you can find recovery discs but no manuals. You might try Lenovo support and see what they say. Sorry.

Cursor moves on its own when Lenovo Thinkpad is connected to DisplayLink port replicator

The port replicator needs to have the drivers installed in order for it to work properly. If this was not done, you will need to do it. Windows does not have the correct drivers for it.

Laptop is showing Audio drivers problem but sounds like beep and once you enter bios u could hear the sound

Do not go to any other web site other than the official Lenovo.com website to obtain the correct drivers. You never know what drivers you are getting from other sources. You have been warned.
