it sounds as if its over heating.
the first thing you should check is to make sure the fan is running and even if it is try to clean out the fan.
or it could be that it needs the cpu heatsink paste replacing.

all this is not to say thats what it could be,its just to say it might be the fault.

Hi. I think the LCD screen of your laptop needs a replacement because I think the backlight on that LCD is already busted thats why you need to point a flashlight or some sort of light just to see the display. Powerdraining your computer wont work because this already a hardware issue with the LCD, that's why when you switch display with your monitor it works fine. I would suggest replacing the LCD of that laptop or try calling Lenovo tech support if your laptop still under warranty so that they would replace it for free. check device manager if there are drivers that were not properly installed, usually with (!) symbols or reinstall drivers using vista drivers.

navigate down to the modem/bluetooth drivers, try to use VISTA drivers.

Check to see that the laptop has a Bluetooth adapter installed. Click on the "Start" menu in the lower-left corner of the desktop. Click on "Control Panel." My thinking is the laptop is dirty inside.

Air cools the hardware components inside the laptop.
The cooling fan draws air from the Bottom of the laptop.
Dust, dirt, hair, lint, food crumbs,....you name it; is drawn in.

The Processor and graphics chipset, are the two hardware components that give off the most heat.
When a Processor overheats, it turns off. (BIOS turns it off)
This is a fail safe feature built in.
Keeps the Processor from burning up.

ALL power removed, (AC adapter {Charger}, and Battery), and blow-ing air in the intake port, (Fan opening), will NOT repair.
At most it is a temporary repair. Kind of like putting a Bandaid on a hole in a dam.

Laptop needs to be partially disassembled, and Q-tips, soft small brush, (Old makeup brush?), plus a can of compressed air for computers; needs to be used.

Also remove the Ram Memory module/s ('Stick'), and clean the gold plated contact pins, with a pencil eraser. Use air to remove the eraser dust, reinstall.

you can check to see if there is a solution at the manufacturer's site for your particular machine.

Go to: control panel>system> hardware tab (top of system window)>device manager and check to see if there is a little yellow trianbgle with an exclamation point nest to any of the devices. IF so, you need to install drivers for those particular devices. You can get them all at the link I gave you above.

To install a driver, first download the drivers you need to your computer, remembering where you downloaded them to.

Go back to device manager (as explained above) and double click on the devices that have the warning next to them. Another window will open, and you will see tabs at the top. choose the driver tab, then click on "update driver" button. You will see the update wizard. Check the radio button "no, not this time", and click next. on the next page, select the radio button "Install from a list or specific location", then find where you downloaded the driver(s) in the window, and click "ok".

That's it. If it is not the driver that is your problem, then you may have to pull the drive and check the connection to make sure it is connecting properly. If it is, then the drive may have failed. There is nothing that can be done except to get a new drive.

Install the driver for windows Vista first,

1) Bring up the device manager. You do that by clicking on Start button and then type 'Device Manager' in the search box. Select the "Device Manager" in the list.
2) In the list of devices, you will see "Chicony USB 2.0 Camera" with yellow bang on it. You will see either code 19 or code 1 as error codes.
3) Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall". 
4) In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
5) Then in the Action menu of Device manager, select Scan for Hardware changes option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled

Same goes for LiteOn Camera Driver.

Everything will be fine after that.
