QuarkXPress 6.5 Questions & Answers
Yes, max osx 10.4.11 and quark 6.5
Below is a standad mac fix-all and a quark fix-all but it could be something else that has happened, after looking on forums there appears to be a problem with this type of problem which quark never bothered fixing in 6.5. I would also instal the quark update from 6.5 to 6.52 from
http://www.quark.com/support/downloads/Details.aspx?fid=122 before you do this it may correct it.
Mac Fix-AllAnother thing I would do is go to the applications folder and then the utilities folder open up disk utility once opened click on your hard drive and then click on repair disk permissions and let it complete the verification and repair (it could take 20 minutes or more) depending upon the size of your hard drive. A lot of people do not this but to keep your machine running efficiently it should be done on a monthly basis.
Quark Fix-AllIt could be that your quark preferences have corrupted, I would go to your users folder then go into the library folder, then the preferences folder and then the quark folder within the quark folder there should be a file called "XPress Preferences.prf" move this to the trash (But do not delete it yet). When you open quark next it will recreate the preference file and hopefully that will sort it out. If this has corrected the problem you can then delete the file in the trash. Please note that you will have to reset your preferences once you open Quark again. Hope this helps in some way.
When I click file export as pdf, is there any way
YES.
I don't have it open in front of me, but you should be able to go to "Edit" and "Output Settings"
From here you can create any kind of setting for printing or creating PDFs that you need.
I have quite a few of these set up on my computer at work.
Quark won't open file
This is most likely a version problem.
Quark 6.5 won't open any file from a newer version (Like Quark 7 or 8)
I am using QuarkXpress 6.5

When I try to open my Quark 6.5 the icon spins but
Please Navigate to HDD>>Users>>Home User>>Library>>Preferences>>Quark>>QuarkXPress 6.5 folder and delete all the files present in that folder.
Also check if there is any Preferences folder under HDD>>Applications>>QuarkXPress 6.5 folder, if yes then delete that folder as well.
Now launch QuarkXPress and check the results.

It could be the page numbers on the old document going beyond 999. Check whether the pages go beyond 999
It could be one of the tab measurements on the page going beyond the page or it could be one of the measurements e.g. space before or after
Hope this helps
Quark xpress 6.5 crashing
Try updating Quark first and reopen the document, if the problem persists, remove the preference file - this may have become corrupt.
Often a Quark crash is related to corrupt fonts, or fonts sharing the same id number as others already on the machine. Do you use a font manager such as Suitcase?
QuarkXpress installed on Mac 10.4.10. Error
yes you can, look, I found this on the internet: Are you referring to the old "small" keyboard with the hockey puck mouse? if so I would recommend investing (about $40) in a Macally Extended Keyboard (108 keys)-and maybe an optical mouse (about the same price) Without the full range of function keys F1 - F15 the program may not be able to boot, Though I have never heard of it, but then again I don't know anyone still using those old keyboards. ----------------------------------------------- And this: make sure that you have US keyboard settings selected under System Preferences > International > Input Locales...
