First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

I'm sure you verified and formatted the HDD before you installed it and the replacement drive is the same type HDD. IF so you could try removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard , wait a few seconds, and re installing it. Can you get to the BIOS?

Start in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Then...Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig > Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

Please try removing the battery, and then connect the power adaptor and try switching the laptop on see it if works if it works then the battery needs to be replaced. I would also recommend if you can check your power adaptor / swap your power adaptor with a know good adaptor (if you have one). The remaining steps will depend on the outcome of the steps above.

I would agree another thought is to take the battery out and see if the system will boot or even show a light. If not it could be the charger that is the problem. Hope this helps.

If you havent tried to boot your operating system from a disk or jump drive (which you can get from you local PC store for around 5 bucks) then I'd say your either missing harware components, or the ones you have are fried, and your better off buying a new PC.

try going into the control panel and looking under system for a system restore button it should restore it to factory settings

You can try your system restore function. This will allow you to reset the system to default settings.

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
