If you feel comfortable doing so, remove the back panels that cover the wireless card, RAM, hdd, etc. You're looking for a small button-cell battery with two wires connected to the motherboard. If you see one in plain sight, you're in luck. Disconnect it from the board, remove your laptops full size battery, and make sure it isn't plugged into any power source at all. Leave it for 1-3 minutes. Reconnect the button cell battery (This is a CMOS battery and stores BIOS passwords ), plug the other battery or your charger in, restart laptop. Password should be reset, however some BIOS' hold it in flash memory. If this is the case, look on the bottom of your laptop and attempt to find a serial number on a white label. it may be labeled s/n or something like that. Type this serial number in at (http://bios-pw.org/) and attempt to generate a master unlock password for your laptop. This works about 50% of the time for me. If it allows you to get into the laptop, the password generated will allow you to change all passwords in BIOS.

You need to open the lower black panel apart for this you can follow the online YouTube tutorials. Once panel is taken apart then you will see a small battery cell connected with 2 red and black wires via jack. Take this jack off to disconnect the battery for about then replace by putting it back and try turning on your pc.

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. First make shure the back light is powerd in the first place, altough i think it whill be, you shoud be able to check that, even though the back light doesn't work you still shoud be able to see very faint images and text on your screen.If so, only thing you can do is replace the backlight.. this is not a very common repair, but it's deffenadly not a rear problem either.greetings Bart

If you hear fans running and the hard drive spinning then it sounds like it might have booted up but the screen is blank. If that's the case try the steps below.Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the screw from the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

most likely the system is overheating, the most common reason for a portable to power off. Check and see if the cooling fan is running, use canned compressed air to blow out the air intakes and exhaust. If still no change, then likely a replacement heatsink and fan are in order.

If you are unable to "F-10" at power up, try 1}. unplug your laptop from AC adapter.
2}. press and hold power button until the computer powers up and powers off.
3} remove battery.
4). press and hold power button 10 seconds then release, replace battery.
5}. power up and press F10

If you are still unable to access BIOS you will need to obtain a system restore disk from HP

If your laptop used to freeze up at random, the mouse and keyboard did not respond at some times or you experienced longer and longer boot times with the HP logo on, then your laptop is suffering from a motherboard failure. The options are either to get a new motherboard, or repair the one you have. Here's a great repair tutorial for non booting or random freezeup HP nx6110. What happened is that in time, the FSB controller chip lost contact with the motherboard and since the FSB controls the hard drive, dvd, keyboard, mouse and so on, the laptop cannot boot. It's not a difficult repair, but if you're not very handy with tools, you may take the laptop and the tutorial to someone that can do the work for you. It's better to be safe than sorry.
