Lights are on but won't start

You will have to remove the back panel to access this part. Be sure that you unplug the machine before starting. Once the back panel has been taken off and placed aside the thermal switch will be located on the left lower side near the blower housing . It will be thin and long and located near the cycling thermostat that has for prongs on it. On certain machines, the thermal fuse is located in the front. To access this you must remove the kickplate, which can be done by pushing the clips, one on each side jsut above the top of the kickplate, in between the top and abottom portion. The part numbers are the same for either style dryer. To test this part you can either take the wires off it and tie them together then plug the machine back in and see if it heats, or you can use amultimeter and check to see if there is continuity, if there is its good, if not, bad. The thermal fuse will usually be white, and if located in the back, be thin and long with two wires on it, left and right. If in the bottom front, it will be front center on the exhaust duct. Another possible problem is that the door switch isn't functioning properly. You can visually check this by open the door and pressing the switch and listen for a click sound upon pressing and releasing . I have a Whirlpool Duet dryer it is not heating

Hi

I believe that everything else is fine rather it is the thermal fuse that is located inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct that is bad and should be replaced. If you want you can test this fuse for continuity and if it is bad then it should be replaced, as it cannot be reset. If the fuse is fine then it can be due to the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I have model # GEW9250PW

This is a failed thermistior error code.

The machine control electronics monitors the

exhaust temperature using the thermistor, and

cycles the heater relay on and off to maintain

the desired temperature.

Begin with an empty dryer and a clean lint

screen.

1. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.

2. Set the following configuration:

? Door - must be firmly closed

? Press Control On

? Press End Of Cycle Signal (Louder)

? Press Start

3. If after 60 seconds, E1 or E2 flashes in the

display and the dryer shuts off, the thermistor

or wire harness is either shorted or open.

? Unplug dryer or disconnect power.

? Check wire connections at the machine

control electronics and thermistor. See

Accessing & Removing the Electronic

Assemblies, page 7, and figure 8 for

thermistor location.

? If wire connections are good, remove the

two wires from the thermistor and replace
the thermistor.
the part number is 8577274 you can remove the lower panel in the front to change the part.
thanks and please rate me thank you....ken

Dryer will not dry close with normal drying cycle

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Here is the rest of this tip about DryerMaintenance

My whirlpool duet sport electric

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Unfortunately Dryer is not made to wash shoes, to reset the control and solve this issue press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15-20 seconds. If still its not resolved then the flashing Sensing Light indicates that the Thermal fuse which is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel has gone bad and should be replaced. Before replacing this fuse you can check continuity between its two pins, no continuity means bad fuse and if the fuse if fine then unfortunately the Belt is broken and should be replaced. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee
