Yes, you can remove the unit from it's housing. There may be one or two screws that hold it in the housing. Also, make sure that you have the unit slightly lean outward to allow proper drainage.

Unplug the unit and dismantle the off and on timer and remove the plastic back cover until you see the 4 way switch. Using an air compressor clean the terminals of all the contact points. Assemble again and operte.

you have either a ground or pos -neut fault do not try turning the breakers on untill the unit has been looked at and the fault found it can cause fire and electrecute you! this is a serious fault. if your a bit of a handyman you can have a look and see if any cables have melted and ajoined to a metal part of the unit (most common fault)
if found rap with elec tape and re try unit

it may be low on gas charge causing ice to build up on coil or it may be a fan bearing

When you set the temperature settings down around 64 or lower the unit will freeze up so i recommend to keep it at around 68 or 70 ok this will keep it from freezing also make sure that the unit is free of any obstructions so the air can freely get to the unit ok?

The unit itself hs a ground fault built into the plug, is it in the on posistion?

No power at recepticle or you have power to the unit but will not run?

About 6000 BTU but that is the old way to measure it

Defective temperature control

Could be fan failure. The sound you here probably is the compressor running.

Reset the power to reset the unit, this can happen due to voltage fluctuations by your supplier, 1/2 the time in my experience this clears the error .
