We got this A/C back

Hello, usually the unit will not cool properly if the filter or evaporator coil is dirty, also sometimes if the unit develops a leak the refrigerant will leak out and the unit will not cool properly. Clean the filter and evaporator coil first and see if it helps, if not take thermometer and measure the air entering the ac and the air leaving the ac and find the differance, it sould be between 15-20 degrees if not the unit is low on refrigerant and will have to be recharged.

The fan stopped working.

Could be a bad motor, a bad capacitor, or loose wiring connection. Either way, the unit will need to be removed and opened up. I would start with the capacitor and move on from there. Do you have anything to check the capacitor with?

It will not kick back

sounds like the compressor is getting too hot. High head pressure can cause this. A quick test is to lay your hand on the compressor. It should not be too hot to keep your hand on it.
You may have a restriction of the freon in the condensor.
Also you can replace the relay with a hard start relay.
Ask your local Appliance parts store what a hard start relay is.
also Clean outside condensor coils.with a good coils cleaner.
You can pick that up at your Local Appliance parts store too.

Air conditioner got rained on by accident now all lights are lit up

I have no knowledge of your particular machine, only from A/C's (and heatpumps) in general.

All systems I've ever came across are designed to be subjected to whatever weather conditions so I doubt the actual machine would be the problem. It would never have been approved if it can't stand some rain, snow, hail, what have you. My own A/C / heatpump is always on, even during thunderstorms.

More likely it could be a bad installation causing the problem, wrong type of cabling, inappropriate housing for electrical connections and switches, etc. This, in turn, could have damaged the machine if you have bad luck.

If you are unsure about the status of your installation, I'd advice you to contact professionals to troubleshoot and correct the problems. It is especially important to get it absolutely right when it comes to electrical installations outdoors and in wet environments.

Good luck!

Loud banging and squeaking

that depends - it sounds like fan motor going out or a foreign object. With a flashlight go outside and observe the unit running ( ideally during the malfunction ), you will want to shine the flashlight into the louvers of the case so that you can see inside the unit (( depending on construction)). Look for bent / loose fan blades and/or foreign materials. If no obvious obstructions are found you will need to consult a qualified person. To give you an idea of what you can expect I will construct a repair scenario :
Service call : $65 - $90
Fan Motor : $ 80 - $150
Fan Blades : $ 30 ( hopefully you can re-use your old one if it is not damaged)

The only other thing that it could be is the compressor, if that is the case don't bother repairing. Get a new unit.
Take my example, add it up and compare it to a new unit with a least as much or more BTU output. If repair costs are 50% or more of a replacement unit I would recommend replacing it with a new one.

A few words on selecting the right repairman.

If you choose to consult a repair service check to see if they are listed with the BBB.
Ask around - friends & relatives may be able to point you to somebody.
Take advantage of vocational programs in your area : Most vocational schools have heat and air classes. The young people attending these classes will sometimes repair your unit for parts cost to get the practice ( check with the school)

Hope this helps
