When i enter a dvd

Hi jannette,

I've advice you to accompany with guy with a little knowledge in electronics to do this simple fix.
Your no disc error can be a DIY like the following steps.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Clean the lens. - Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc. Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.
2.Replace the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser. If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.
3.Check the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.
Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.
Ifyou already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.

Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!

I cannot hook my dvd and dish network up to the tv

I assume that you are dealing with a TV with only one input of a given type. Depending on which input you are sharing, get an appropriate switch (Composite video, component video or HDMI). HDMI switches can be manual or have a remote. For a few HDMI models: http://us.startech.com/product-list/switchers . For some Component video options: http://www.svideo.com/com3.html .

How are you connecting the devices to the TV? Which inputs do you have available on the front, back, or side of the TV?

I hope this helps.

What ever DVD i put into the machines, even the

think it is the laser reader. it is not the motor that spins the disc for sure as i have changed it over. this means that probably the unit is scrap unless you can source and install a new laser and that might cost more in time and money than just buying a new one. I will never buy apex again . tried to write to customer services but no reply.

Unknown disc

I have tried switching the motor over but it is fine therefore the laser that reads the cd's has stopped working.
This means the unit is scrap as far as I can tell
as a new laser is very difficult to fit even if you can source one not to mention the actual cost of another one.
I will never buy Apex again it only lasted about month
before breaking down. what a piece of junk. it seems like lots of other people have had the same problem

I need to know how to change modes without controller when I'm using a dvd

Without a remote controller, you may have limited options to change modes on your Apex digital TV. However, you may be able to change the mode by using the buttons on the TV itself. Here are some general steps you can try:
  1. Turn on your TV and make sure your DVD player is connected to it.
  2. Look for the "Menu" button on the TV and press it.
  3. Navigate through the menu options using the arrow buttons on the TV until you find "Input" or "Source."
  4. Press the "Enter" button to select the input/source option.
  5. Use the arrow buttons to select the input/source that corresponds to your DVD player.
  6. Press the "Enter" button to confirm the selection.
  7. Press the "Menu" button to exit the menu.
Note that the specific steps may vary depending on the model of your Apex TV. You may also consult the user manual for your TV for more information on changing modes without a remote controller.
