generally any time a button continuously flashes, you either have a bad door switch that doesnt recognize door closing, therefore will not start, or the electronic keyboard/touch pad is shorted out, in which case youll need to replace the console assy

clean light blinkn can be a number of things, ranging form bad heating element, possible bad door latch( not maintaining contact through cycle) motor and sensor could also cause this( but now changed they're ruled out.. in order to correct this issue, ive even had to rpelace the entire wiring harness to machine, i would advise you deal with an AUTHORIZED WHIRLPOOL servicer, so he can have the whirlpool techline assist in any future diagnosis, instead of just changing parts randoml.

The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.
Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm and lower feed tube to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary (part # 8268383). If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly (part # 8535150). Remove any debris from the sump area in the process.
You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.

Actually, the button order to put it in a diagnostic cycle and clear the blinking clean light on the gu2500 is HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL not the other way around as Iden had posted.

The sump and motor assembly can be replaced without taking the unit out of the cabinet and with some guidance, a handy person can do it themselves.

try washing on hottest cycle it may be the seal in the spray pump somethimes the rinse aid can put a glaze on the seal if that doesnt work you can replace just the front part of the motor( in australia) dont know where you are.

reset the dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal let it run through that cycle then through a normal cycle got the error blink again. Reset dishwasher by touching heated dry and normal, ran the test cycle, next ran a normal cycle but turned off the heated dry. This allowed the dishwasher to run through a complete cycle did not get the error blink and confirmed that the heating element was out.

You may try removing power to D/W for a minute and reconecting. likely cause though is keypad (console). If a light above a pad stays on the pad is likely closed all the time. Normal is probably cycle most often used. you can test the keypad by removing power to D/W and accessing the control panel. remove conncter P-1 and using an ohmeter test resistance between 13 and 4 on the connecter coming from keypad. yes without very small clips or 4 steady hands it is a little tricky. in the field we use a breakout board. if you get any reading when not pushed pad is bad. you may find a manual inside the kickplate which explains the keypad sequence. it may be control but more likely keypad, even if test is inconclusive.

  Check your connection where you connected dishwasher to power cord.

Unlikely to be the wiring. It can only be the motor, the door switch, the flood sensor, the motherboard or the control panel. My plan was to see if I could find you a service manual, but strangely, the only reference to that model number is your post here! My guess is the D6 is 'D for Dishwasher' and 'Series 6' or 6 models in that current series. If the machine has been laid up or little used, check all the connection on the control board.
