My Dell laptop's battery used to work properly and charge and show a green light flashing while charging. Now I can't get the battery to charge and when it is plugged in I am seeing the charge light flash orange quickly 4 times, followed 1 longer green light flash.
The computer appears to work fine while plugged, but won't work when it is not "plugged in".

I had the same problem, I removed the bettery while it was still plugged in, tested it, then plugged it back and and now all is fine.

I have the HP pavilioin dv2000 too. I encountered the same problem. I did everything i though possible (reseated the battery, reseated the ram) and everytime i hit the power button, i would get all the blue lights on but no screen. And it is non responsive. Fed up i held the power key down for no less than 2 minutes and ta-da the computer responds by turning off. After i pressed the power button again, it started normally.
Hope it helps. Take care.

I have BT' it's on (the blue sign lights).
In device manager I can see devices - RFBUS, RFHID, and "dell wireless 360 bluetooth module".
I cannot use it with Nokia PC suite nor does it appear on the control panel - I don't even have BT option.

First of all search device from your nokia phone near to your lap-top. If its found your lap, then you have to checkout your lap BT settings.
Other wise go to Device Manager and Uninstall your BT brivers.
After that make reboot then install driver for your lap BT.
You can download the driver for your lap BT from the following link or any where else.:

Try this. Press down hard on the f7 and f8 keys while trying to turn it on. Some if it does turn on then odds are that the solder joints on the bios chip (which is below the f7/f8 keys) are bad. You can try to touch it up yourself, but it is not an easy job.
As far as I can tell the d600/600m have this issue a lot.

My dell latitude d630 papers are lost and I dont remember the administrative password of bios kindly help as how to open
The BIOS setup password is stored in NVRAM and can only be accessed with that password. On the bottom of the laptop there is a Service Tag number. Dell support site can use that number to generate a master password for you. http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn If you need further help please post back. Hello.I have a dell latitude d600 and I have a problem booting up and I also only see a blank screen.I ran a test and it passed almost everything. But now I get a error ~~~~No Diagnostic Utility Partition Found. It also said that I should insert a Dell "Drivers and Utilities" CD then boot from the cd.Does anyone know where I can get the CD from or maybe download it.Any help would be thankful
Posted by davsun on
Hi, the "No Diagnostic Utility Partition Found" is returned because your laptop does not find the recovery partition on C drive.
Easiest way to create partition is with dell recovery cd. You can buy CDs from dell, buy finding contact on web site or buy from one of the following.
Dell Restore Disk: XP Pro SP2 for ... $35.00 - DIMOSOL - Digital ...
Dell Latitude D600 XP System Recovery CD ... $18.95 - recovery-cds.com ...
Dell Latitude D600 Vista System Recovery ... $18.95 - recovery-cds.com ...
Buy recovery cd according to windows version on sticker at the back of your laptop.
With recovery CD you wont need drivers.
Alternative solution is downloading drivers posted by Maanita after installing Windows from a generic Windows setup CD.

black screen with all lights on
after the power is on the operating system didn''t load. It is only black screen.

I called hp today, for the black screen at bootup. He worked me through it perfectly. Seems when the machine sits idle too long the power starts to efecct the mother board. The solution was to remove powercord and battery, press the startup button for 30 seconds then plug back power cord and press power start button again... Then reinstall battery and start with it in again... Worked fin after that I guess hp is aware of this issue.......

hit the number lock key - don't try to hit the "function (fn)" key + number lock. Just the numberlock key SOLO
