How to replace the drive pump on Whirlpool top load (diagrams for models...

Hi.

If you are talking about the drive pump, this is located at the bottom of the machine, and accessing it is quite easy.

As a first thing disconnect the power cord, disconnect water lines and drain hose, and move the machine in a place where you can comfortably lean the machine on one side and support it to access the bottom of the appliance, where the pump is located. Also ensure that there is no water inside the machine before proceeding. If there is water inside the tub you will need to disconnect hose from the pump and collect water with a container while performing the procedure below.

Carefully tilt the machine and lay it down on its back. This is probably the most difficult part of the procedure, ensure that the machine is supported properly and start removing the two spring clamps that hold the pump and the two inlet and outlet hoses connected to the pump together.

Remove the two metal clips that hold the pump to the motor housing.

Slide off the pump and remove it.

Do all the operations described above in reverse order to install the new pump.

Before replacing the pump, ensure that the problem is not related to the hoses connected to the pump. Leaks and blockage problems are often caused by one of the hoses, rather than by the pump.

The pump is indicated with the arrow on diagram below, near to parts 30, 31 and 32. the clips are parts 30 and 31. The corrugated drain hose going to the tub is part number 32:

The water will not drain from washer

You may have a bad pump or something stuck between the inner and outer drum blocking off the drain. I've had to remove a stray glove from between them an dit can be fun. Good luck.

I had this same problem once and it was pretty simple, I removed the agitator asembly, not 100% sure on your model. and there is a cupling between the moror and the agitotor. the guy at the appliance store saidit was a sacraficial part that brakes when a large load is put on the motor to protect it. usually like a 13.00 piece
