It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

The central piece doesn't move when the washer is

Have someone help you look under the washer. Tilt it up and back and look underneath. Do you see one belt or two? Is it worn? If the motor and belt is good then transmission is bad. Call places with you make and model for an estimate. P.S. Have you noticed grease stain on your clothes after washing?

Most probably one of the springs which centralises the drum has broken. Lean the machine back against something or someone and, with a light, check up inside and...A broken wire on the floor under the washer might tell you something....Don't forget to unplug first!...Good luck...Nomess

1990 MAytag Series 10 Washer - Fills with water, will not agitate

It is not a timer problem. This means the mechanism for the spin is still working and the agitation mechanism is not working.

The motor has 2 direction of rotations. One for agitation and the other is for spinning. Of course, there is a mechanism to assist this purpose. Your are lucky since it is easy to fix the agitaition mechanism than the spinning one.

If you take out the front pannel, you can access to the bottom of the shaft, The little white plastic is worn out. This one is the mechanism to activate the agitation. The rest you see are the brake, the clutch and the pulley to take care of the spinning mechanism, but you don't have to worry about them.

You just need to replace this white plastic part then you are good to go. Good luck.

My Kenmore washing machine trickles water out very

Hi, Remove the inlet hoses and clean out the screens inside the inlet valve. Most of the time it is the cold water that gets plugged up. Because you state the rinse cycle is filling slow, I believe the cold is your problem.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Will not Spin or Agitate. Whirlpool washer came

If the washer will fill and drain, but won't agitate or spin, you may have a broken motor coupling. The noise of the motor engaging, lack of agitation and ability to still drain are the usual symptoms. This is a common fail item with this model washer through normal wear and tear. Newer versions of the coupler are more resilient and resist breaking. The following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385250-replacing_motor_coupling_kenmore_top

The motor coupling is located between the drive motor and the transmission and takes the place of a drive belt. They do wear out and can break. The replacement part number is included in the link I provided and is an improved upgraded coupling that is more resilient. It should last longer. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

A replacement coupler can be purchased on line at appliancepartspros.com for about $11. Just use the part number in the link and "Search by Part Number" for your search criteria.

Now...a washer that fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

Take note of your symptoms:

1. Washer fills, may or may not agitate, will not advance to the rinse cycle, and will NOT drain - lid switch.

2. Washer fills, does NOT agitate or spin, but WILL drain - motor coupling.

If you still have questions, please let me know. If the suggestions I have listed do not match your washer symptoms, please post back and elaborate more on what the washer is/is not doing. That way I can provide you with better assistance. I hope this information is helpful to you.

PS The age of the washer is determined by the Serial Number on the appliance. If you post back with the number I can tell you the year it was manufactured.

Washer will not move on from wash cycle to spin

On this one I am thinking it is one of 2 problems....either it is the lid switch or the motor coupling. you can confirm by testing the lid switch with a multimeter. when the lid is open you should not have any condinuity, when closed you should have condinuity. if you are electrically minded an easy way to confirm the lid swith is bypassing it with a wire nut and checking to see if it goes into spin. If it does make sure you replace the lid switch...it's there for a reason!!

Whirlpool direct drive top loader will not spin

Hi, Is the humming noise coming from the timer area? Do you know if it agitates ok?
When you have it in spin cycle, Try lifting the lid and see if the hum stops.
The reason for these questions is that on this model, if it drains the water out but does not spin, it is either lid switch, coupler, or transmission.
If it's the coupler, it will not agitate either.
Please let me know so I can assist you further.

Thanks

How do i get a necklace stuck in holes of my Whirlpool thin twin washing machine?

It won't be easy - the necklace went through the hole so logically it should come back, unfortunately it is the nature of a necklace to be a random structure unless some tension is applied; the links or whatever are apt to go sideways and jam in the hole. In an extreme case the necklace could be knotted... If it is knotted there is no chance of removal and the solution is either to dismantle the washer or to break the necklace. Positioning the drum so the necklace is under tension under its own weight and with some jiggling and the application of lots of patience and some luck it should come back through the hole.

Whirlpool heavy duty commercial washer # cae2743800 will not start after coins inserted and start button held

Check the Coin Mechanism: Ensure that the coin mechanism is functioning correctly. Sometimes, coins may get stuck or not register properly. Verify that the coin slots are clear and that the mechanism is engaging properly. If there's an issue with the coin mechanism, it could prevent the washer from starting. You might need to clean or repair it. Inspect the Wiring: There should be a harness with two wires that go into the coin mechanism box. Check if these wires are intact and properly connected. If you find any damage or loose connections, consider repairing or replacing the wiring. Bypass the Coin Mechanism: If you suspect that the coin mechanism is causing the problem, you can bypass it temporarily. Cut the wires going into the coin mechanism and insert a push button switch in the line. This will allow you to manually start the washer without relying on the coin mechanism. If you're unsure how to do this, consider contacting a local repair shop for assistance. Check for Other Issues: Inspect other components such as the lid switch, control board, and start button. Any malfunction in these parts could prevent the washer from starting. Make sure the washer is plugged in and that there are no tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.

Whirlpool duet steam washer displaying F 20 error code during wash cycle. Water seems to be flowing just fine. I've unplugged it several times to clear the code but it's not working.

The F20 error code on a Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer typically indicates a water inlet problem. It means the washer is not getting enough water to continue the wash cycle. This can be due to several reasons, even if it seems like water is flowing fine at first glance. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
  1. Check Water Supply Hoses:
    • Ensure both the hot and cold water faucets are fully open.
    • Inspect the water inlet hoses for kinks, bends, or twists that could restrict water flow. Straighten out any issues you find.
    • Turn off the water supply, disconnect the hoses from the back of the washer, and check that the filter screens inside the water inlet valve are not clogged with debris. Clean them carefully if needed.
  2. Water Pressure:
    • The washer requires a certain amount of water pressure to function correctly. Low household water pressure can lead to insufficient water flow to the washer. Make sure your home's water pressure is within the washer's required range.
  3. Check for Siphoning:
    • Make sure the drain hose is correctly installed. The end of the hose should not be too far down the standpipe, and there should be an air gap to prevent siphoning.
  4. Inlet Valves:
    • If the water hoses and screens are clear, there might be an issue with the water inlet valves themselves. They might not be opening fully due to electrical issues or mechanical failure.
    • The inlet valves can be tested with a multimeter for continuity to ensure they are functioning correctly. If they lack continuity, they need to be replaced.
  5. Flow Meter:
    • Some Whirlpool Duet models have a flow meter that measures the amount of water entering the washer. If this component malfunctions, it could mistakenly signal that there's not enough water, even when there is.
    • Diagnosing a flow meter requires some technical knowledge and a service manual for your specific model.
  6. Pressure Switch:
    • The washer uses a pressure switch to monitor the water level. If there's an issue with this switch or the hose connected to it, the washer might incorrectly interpret the problem as insufficient water flow.
    • Check the pressure switch and the hose for any blockage, disconnection, or damage.
  7. Reset the Washer:
    • Since unplugging the washer hasn't cleared the error, after checking the above, try to reset the control board by unplugging the washer for about 5 minutes, then plugging it back in.
If after trying these steps the F20 error persists, it may be time to consult the manual for more specific troubleshooting steps for your model or contact a professional appliance repair service. Sometimes, the problem could be related to the washer's electronic control board or other components that require professional diagnosis and repair.
