Does not fill to soak cloths. other cycles seem to work. replace control board with no change. was a service center suggestion. help
i don't know. most washers have a lid safety switch that must be indicating the door or lid is properly closed. please check this switch is working properly. i just used a volt meter on a top loader. the lid switch was damaged.
if no water coming in, check hot and cold water are turned on. if no water, shutoff taps and disconnect both hoses at washer and the taps.[ most hoses have a wire screen in hose that may be plugged ]. if all seems clear, reconnect tap hose ends. hold hoses into sink or pail and check each is running free by justturning on taps a small amount. if hoses are OK, it may be the electrical connection to the water solenoids. inspect to see if connections are secure. if all seems OK, it may be a plugged or faulty switch/tube that is indicating the empty machine is full of water.

Drum won't tumble, element won't heat
It's possible the belt broke. This would account for the drum not turning and conversely also account from the fan not turning; resulting in an overheat condition, tripping the over temp sensor and shutting down the gas valve (or electric element.)
It's also possible the belt is still good and the thermo fuse is shot and preventing the motor from starting. (You didn't state whether the motor was running or not.)
The thermo fuse is usually located on the blower housing and has two blue wires going to it.
Also check the blower wheel and wire insulations, for melting under these conditions.

Whirlpool washer has water leaking at bottom of unit
Try this: before starting machine slide a sheet of newspaper under it. Start it up and keep checking the paper often to see about where the leak is. After it has pumped out either tilt it or,, being careful of the hoses, lay it on its side on its side and look for the leak. Probability would be a loose hose clamp, a cracked hose, a leaky pump or, less likely and difficult to replace, a worn tub seal. Good luck.
