V:\ is not accessible Error performing inpage operation

To expand upon what ikkenom said, this will work much better done from the command line.

(Assuming Windows XP)
Click "Start", "Run...", type "cmd" and click [OK] or press [Enter]. From the command line type "chkdsk V:\ /F". You can optionally include the "/R" option to check for bad sectors on the disk (Be patient, this will take a long time, especially if there are bad secors).
If this fails, add the "/X" option. This dismounts the volume before proceding. You may need to reboot afterwards before examining the drive.

A MS article describing this error implies that is is likely a physical disk error and the technical reason why the error mistakenly implies a paging fault: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;141117

I know how distressing it can be to loose pictures and video you've worked so hard to acquire/produce. Good luck!

I turned on my external f drive this morning,

Hi,

The inpage operation error actually refers to an error going between the drive and your RAM. Try the drive on a different computer, if it works the problem may be in your RAM, if it doesn't the drive is corrupted and can't be read under normal circumstances.

If it does work, let me know and I'll link you to a memory diagnostic program to test your RAM. If it doesn't work on the other computer, let me know your Country, State and City and I can refer you to a nearby Data Recovery team.

D: drive is opening

You sound like you know some techie stuff, so I'll speak more techno-geek ...

Run on your C: drive the "chkdsk c: /r"

Make sure your drivers for the D's connection are still viable; not corrupted from the power outage. Remove and re-detect the USB Hub, if that's what you connect with...

It is not seeing your D at all, so it's not something ON your D that is bad; its in your computer itself.

Neither the blue power or read/write LEDs are working on a 250 gb fantom drive. It is recognized by the laptop and I can write to it. Any known fix to the LED illumination problem?

Take the circuit board with the LEDs on it to an electronics expert to replace the LEDs or the components that control them and aren't working on the board.

Two of my Fantom external hard drives do not work. The lights come on, but one makes a clicking sound and the other one no sound. I've checked the power pack and that is not the problem. I don'

Are the drives still under warranty or not? All drives will fail. If they aren't, break open the case and put the drives into new enclosures or place them in a desktop (if you have extra IDE or SATA connectors available) as secondary drives. You may need adapters if these are portable drives. This will let you see if the enclosure has failed or the drive itself. The one that is clicking may not be usable (clicking usually means a head problem). However, you should be able to recover files. You may need to use a file recovery program, like Recuva, if the drive has lost the partition information. I hope this helps. If the drives are under warranty, decide if you want to void your warranty. The data will not be recovered under warranty with most external drives.Cindy Wells (I've replaced several hard drives when they went bad. By cloning the drive before it fails, I haven't lost data. I've also attempted to rescue data after the failure. I try to back up important data to optical discs as well as flash drives and backup HDDs.)

1.Fantom GForce megadisk beeps frequently

Hard drive (external or internal) won't beep, unless there is mechanial faulty issue. You can test by plug in this fantom in to another computer (desktop or laptop) to see if it is recognized and can copy/transfer files. More than likely is going to die soon (based on what you described beep, and not responding). If you can, try to detach it and attach it back to computer and copy pictures as quickly as you can. At this point, to answer your question, pictures might still be there, unless hard drive is completely dead.
Try to detach and attach it back or to same or different computer to see if it is recognized and transfer files/pictures as quickly as you can.
Let me know.
Thanks

When I try to turn

That security lock has nothing to do with your problem - it's there to allow you to keep the unit attached to the pc so it can't be stolen.
In your case that simple switch has failed : the button you move has a little spring on its base that flips a metal pin to make the contact , that spring got loose and the pin no longer flips. The contact must be replaced. That a very simple operation, it's soldered just in its 2 contact posts so unsolde it there and it will pop out. Take it and go to a shop that sells electric or hobby equipment and find an identical replacement - it's a standard part very commonly used in a lot of other stuff.
If you can't find one then just solder a little wire across the contacts to keep it always powered - to unpower it just take out the power cable.

The drive turns on, but

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Fantom Drive stopped working

Hi. If they check that properly that's mean that you have to replace electronic part of you hard drive. Easiest way is to buy broken one with working electronic and then replace it. This is difficult but its only way to recover your data from drive. If you are lucky you can try remove that unknown drive from system and than plug you hard drive again but to different USB port.
