look over the top of the control panel look straight down you see 2 phillips head screws on either side youll need to remove, the console will flip back giving you access to the switch..just for curiosity its not "clicking" when you close the lid therefore it fills and stops, doesnt spin or drain???? try this first.open the lid all the way, the left side hinge acts as the plunger for the switch.. feel under there open and close lid a little to help find the metal hinge. after finding the hinge place a 1/4 nutdriver(doesnt matter the size just needs a hollow shaft.) over the protruding portion of the hinge. still under the top but right there! when its on push the driver back(in essence bending hte armature back slightly). itll flex a bit as you push the hinge the door will push back(you got the right spot then). after you crank it back a bit try closing the lid now. did you hear it click??? your golden!!!!!!! no need to change.. reason for telling you this is for the most part the switch doesnt go bad but the lid /hinge isnt bent enough to make contact, and over time of swinging top into the fully opened position it actually bends to far forward to make contact. i have a box full of switched that other techs ordered and weren't needed. not saying they dont go bad ive seen that, but try this first might get lucky!!!!

there are two springs which support the tub. you'll need to remove the top of the washer to get at these springs. at each front corner there is a bent spring clip which must be depressed. once you depress this clip the top moves upward. use a thin putty knife to depress the clip. in the back are two more clips held in place by a screw. after you spring up the top front corners the whole top can be removed and rotated towards the back.

Washing machine spins slow
If your machine is spinning slow, this can be an indication that your gearcase (transmission) may be going bad. One way to tell is to look under your machine. If you see any oil puddles on the floor, your gearcase needs replaced. A new gearcase runs about $200 and that doesn't include the labor charges (add about another $150). Good luck.

WILL NOT SPIN
Lady Victoria, you are going to have to remove the cabinet to get to the lid switch. Remove the two screws from the back of the top consol and flip it up. Unplug the lid switch and remove the snap springs. The cabinet will now lift off and you can get at the lid switch. I will attach some helpful pics...Catriver..post back

Washing Machine won't empty water during the cycle
does the timer advance by itself? if not the problem is your timer not advancing through the cycles. if timer does advance then being 14 1/2 years old it could be the motor. start the washer and mark the beggining where the timer starts. whatch it to see if it moves if not then you need to replace your timer

Whirlpool cabrio will not spin
If your Whirlpool Washer is not spinning the problem is almost always the lid switch. If the lid switch is bad you will not hear the motor running when in spin. To check the lid, first unplug the washer.
