Glass top range is pitted

Yes, your glass top assembly on your range can be replace. Here is one link where you can get the part, http://www.apdepot.com/Products/PartsLookup2/IPLLookupFrames.aspx?Brand=WHIRLPOOL&ModelNo=GR399LXHS1&ImgID=EdI2&ImgFile=WTKIKKLL

It is a relatively easy job to replace the main top since the burners are not attached to the top assembly itself. Remove 2 or 3 screws on the front of the top and you can easily lift the entire top off of the range and replace it with the new top.

Hello Shartrick,

The problem is the switch its self it is letting the power run thru it and not turning it off. You will have to take the back off of the range and locate which one goes to it.

1. Remove the cord!
2. Take the back off and locate the switch, Pay attention to the lines as they will have to go back to the same ones L1 to L1 of the new switch and L2 to L2 crossing these will burn up the other switches.
3. Remove the old switch pull wires first. Unscrew the two screws on the front that are holding the switch.
4. Screw the new switch in place and replace the wires
5. Replace the back of the range
6. Plug in and try the unit.

The switches can be purchased at www.easyapplianceparts.com
For the 8 inch burner switch #EAP336989 Cost $39.65
For the 6 inch burner switch #EAP336885 Cost $40.18

Self cleaning F5 error

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.#$TRE

Knob won't turn.

After disconnecting all power, it should not be difficult. (but then again, I repair restaurant equipment for a living) Make sure you mark the wires, and locations down in case you get distrracted, and make sure all your connections are firmly connected. A loose connection will cause the wire to burn down the line. If you are not COMPLETELY confident you can do it, call a professional.

Bought house with self-cleaning oven but no

There should be a standard that comes up when you turn it on. Mine has two options, 2 hours or 3 hours. Needless to say, the dirtier it is, the longer you should set it for! That said, I only use the minimum time for mine.

OVEN WILL NOT TURN ON

I have had the same problem after we suffered a huge power surge. The part that you are referring to is called the microcomputer part# 9754261 (in canada... I don't know if it is the same in US). This is basically the whole electronic board behind the glass display front. I have seen this replaced by a professional but could not give you instructions on how to unplug and replace although it did look fairly easy. The other thing they had me try before replacing this part was to unplug the stove from the wall for half an hour and try plugging it back in to reset the system. Hope this helps
