Hunter Fan Company 5/1/1 Programmable Thermostat - Page 4 Questions & Answers
My heat wont come on
Did you try calling Hunter Tech support. I had same issue and the thermostat I had was not compatable with the system I had. They immediately recommended the proper model per the number of wires that were on the old thermostat. The 800# for Tech support should be on the package that the thermostat came in.

The furnace wont turn on even though it says it is
not all digital thermostats are compatible with the manufacturers circuit control boards in the furnace. Hunter has had this problem several years ago. Other than that you may have miss wired the unit. usually the furnace is used as backup heat (during defrost) or emergency heat if your heat pump konks out. Are you switching to emergency heat for a furnace call?

I believe the digital hunter thermostat say energy moitor 1
Find the 5-digit model number (example 40170) on your thermostat. Go to http://www.hunterfan.com and paste the number into the search field at the top of the page. If Hunter still supports this product, you should be taken to the support page for it which has a link to the product manual PDF.

We just bought a house that the thermostat had
The Red and White wires coming from the furnace are the only ones that call for heat. the Green wire turns on the fan continuously, the yellow is for AC. If you have another wire color, it may be a Common wire and should not be used if your t-Stat has batteries. If no batteries, it goes to the C screw.

Nee help ..my programmable thermostat wont turn on
The usual color code for thermostats are as follows:
Red (R) = Power
White (W) = Heat
Yellow (Y) = A/C
Green (G) = Fan/Blower Motor
That is for a standard 1 heat 1 cool thermostat. The other colors that you have described are usually for a heatpump system in which you have more than four wires. Depending on the furnace model, you can sometimes see the wires that go to a circuit board that are also mark with the same color codes. If so, then you just have to make sure that the w on the board is the same color has the w on the thermostat and etc. Hope this helps.

Forgot to mark wires before removing old thermostat...
You can take a look at the blower unit where the wires from the thermostat connect to. Usually they're labeled on the circut diagram on the front panel, or on the board itself.
This site may also be of some assistance.

Switching old thermostat to Hunter thermostat model 44155c
By describing the wires from your new thermostat and your old one, it sounds like your new thermostat is not compatible with your system. If you have seven wires now, then you more than likely have a heat pump system and you have to get a thermostat that is compatible with this type of system. Then you will have the connections you need.

Replacing 2 honeywell thermostats with Hunter.
The hunter uses batteries and a ram chip to "remember" how you set it, the common is not needed with the Hunter. Some thermostats used the 24 volts of the thermostat circuit for powering up displays or for internal functions such as relays etc. Modern stats consume such a small amount of juice it is not typically required these days.

Thermostat takes too long to cool down 1 degree
Thermostats don't cool or heat. They are just the control device that tells the furnance or AC to operate and register the present temperature and tell the furnance or A/C to shut off, once the desired temperature has been reached.
Most programmable thermostats will take at least 1-2 weeks to "learn" how long to run the furnance or A/C in order to reach the desired temperatures you've programmed into it, for the time you want it be that temperature. Variables such as extremely hot days and higher humidity will also affect your cooling system.
Give it a little time to self-learn and it should adjust itself after a week or two of operation. You might want to take some time to review and familiarize yourself with the owners manual to see what Hunter advises for setting up and using the thermostat.
You may need to have your A/C checked to see if you're running low on freon, or need to have the coils cleaned, need to change the air filter, etc.
Hope this helps and best regards!
