Can you put a 2X4 between the joists and bolt the fox to that?

"G" terminal is for the fan, typically using a green wire. "C" terminal is the common, basically a ground, typically using a blue wire. Also, leave in the jumper between "RH" and "RC".

Yes...just keep the four wires wrapped as two and then hook up as a two wire connection...
The two wires wrapped together just makes it work better if the wires are a bit too light...
The two wires wrapped together will function as one wire...

This is the corrcet wiring:
G - G fan relay
R - RC1, RC put a jumper RH ( to supply power to the cool and heat)
L - no wire connected (malfunction indicator) tape- off that wire
E - Emergency heat relay
B - W/B ( reversing valve in your heat pump energized during heat )
W2 - Auxilliary heat
Y - Y1 ( compressor contact)
O- Y/O ( reversing valve is energized during cool)
make sure that the system selector is on heat pump position.

The W- terminal is for the HEAT RELAY.
Connect the brown and white wire to the WB terminal which is heat relay of the Hunter thermostat.

If the smell is gone 24 hours after the lights were turned off, turn on the fan & leave the lights off. Check for the burning order again. If you can smell it replace the fan. It will be the armature shorting out in the fans motor

That is correct, you need a heatpump thermostat, it will have a EM heat setting on it

Hunter Fan... | Answered on Apr 04, 2010

The switch to change it should be on the upper left corner on the back of the t-stat.
You can see where it is here on page 14-15..

Just hold down the two buttons for 5 seconds and it will be reprogrammed.

Good luck.

You have to set the hi and lo temp set so the control will have a range to cover. If the temps are set the same then there is no place for the control to run the furnace. It is like filling a hole with snow, when it is full you stop and when it empties you fill it again.

There is no real color code for wiring but the standard is red wire to r, yellow wire to y,white wire to w, green wire to g, blue wire to c. since there's no c on your t- stat its probably battery operated, but in your case im betting white wire to w, and blue wire to g.

Hunter Fan... | Answered on Feb 09, 2010

same problem once it gets to the set temperature the burner turns off and the fan stays on and blows cold air.

Hunter Fan... | Answered on Feb 02, 2010

check your reset button and if that does not work take off the plate and manually reset your thermostat.
