Sterling RF45 Propane Gas Heater (45,000 BTU) Questions & Answers
Sterling RF-45 Pilot light comes
clean pilot check flame sencor is clean , jump high leval limit first see if it lights , if not try low limit , check thermocouple is tight if fitted ,
Is it safe to run
If it's operating properly, is T-Stat controlled and is properly vented to the outside, it should be safe to operate all night. I suggest that you set the Wall Thermostat no higher than 50 degrees, though.
YESTERDAY I BOUGHT A THERMOCOUPLER FOR MY QVF 45
Loosen the thermocouple nut where it goes in the control valve. Re-tighten it only finger tight and with the appropriate wrench, turn it ONLY a 1/4 turn more.
If you have it to tight, it will not heat up and open the gas valve. Make sure not to cross thread it.
FYI: Gas control valves on this type of heater rarely go bad. Unless, the control knob is forced in an inappropriate way.
We have yellow flame is that a problem
haven't had much to do with this type of heater but a yello9w falme is usually reducing the oxygen from the gas by the the air mixer on some flame effect fires they cover air holes on burner to get the flames yellow the only problem is they can carbon up from this in a heater you don't look into flames this may be ok but i would check the burner air mixture hole if has one but that smost likely the reason for yellow flame not blue so its probably no problem carbon in heat exchanger will make heat transfer a bit slower so probably best to try and fix
When i light my heater I can smell gas
could be a leak on the pilot line or pilot or the gas valve you can check with soapy water if it bubbles it leaks or call in a gas fitter if you feel safer
Heater won't fire blower comes on and glow pug lights up but no
To Test the limit switch put the wires together (if just 2 terminal) and see if it works. If so replace the switch assuming it is not a manual reset. REPLACE the switch, Don't just leave it by passed. If it has 3 or more terminals you will have to find the wire diagram and decide which terminals should be closed and if any should be open, or if the switch has some kind of built in heater on the part.
If the same thing happens you know its not this part but something else and you'll have to get a volt meter to start eliminating whats working from whats not and when its working to get to the bottom of the problem and finding what it is.
Please if this helps you rate me as high as you possibly can. Thank you for using fix ya.
