Your time needs set on your answering machine. If you have buttons on the top of your base, press and hold the day / check button to set the day of the week. Press and hold the hour button to set the hour. Press and hold the min button to set the min. If you don't have buttons on base, press flash button on handset to enter answerer remote mode. Press the 8 key to enter time set menu. Set hour and min using number buttons and set am/pm using caller id buttons. Press # pause to confirm the setting.

1. ep 1 Order call waiting from your phone provider if you do not already have it. Cal waiting works best with caller ID features that give you the phone number and name of the person calling you. Or if you have the call back feature on your telephone, you can simply call *69. Your phone will dial the number of the person whose call you just missed.
   
4. Step 4 Use call waiting as politely as you can. You might tell someone who you are talking to that you are expecting an important call and may have to terminate the call abruptly. Call waiting calls should be answered as quickly as you can. After four rings, most phone calls go right to the machine or people hang up. Promise to call your first caller back if you have to interrupt the call
   

Since you did not specify whether you have caller ID in the past pls be aware that you have to order caller ID from the phone company.
If your line is optioned to deliever call ID then check the phone options - it might be turned off for some reason.

Call forwarding is not a function provided by single line telephones. You will need to contact your telephone service provider to have them provide the service for you as well as instructions for how to turn the service on and off.

That's how block numbers work. You can't find out the number.

Unfortunately that is the untold story about cordless phones they only have the capability of 1 open line be it the handset or or the base. There are some very pricey multi line systems, I have the same system bought two extra handsets and found out too late that I can only use them one at a time! Sorry probably not the answer you were looking for but thats the reality...

After waiting for over 24 hrs for an answer from FixYa and then they wanted $10.00 and trying to fix it myself, I gave up. Threw all that c$$p into a box, took it back to the store and got my money back. It just wasn't worth the time and aggravation.

If the "handset" beeped then it is already registered. It means that it is recognized by the base and therefore should be working. If you still have no dial tone on the phone there must be an issue with the working condition of the phone. Sorry that my advice didn't solve your problem.

delete messages, even record a new greeting message.
1) Call your telephone number.
2) During the greeting message, press 0 and enter your PIN code.
3) The answering system announces the current time and the number of messages
stored in memory. Then you hear "To play incoming message, press zero two.
For help, press one zero."
4) You may continue to listen to the voice prompts, or you may select a command
from the following chart:

Turn on the Answering System Remotely
If you have forgotten to turn on your answering system, you can turn it on remotely
from any touch-tone telephone.
1) Call your telephone number.
2) Wait ten rings until the system answers. You hear intermittent beeps.
3) Press 0 and then enter your PIN code. The answering system announces the
number of messages stored in memory. You hear "To play incoming message,
press zero two. For help, press one zero."
4) Press 0 then 6 to turn the answering system On. You hear the outgoing message
and a confirmation tone.
5) Hang up the phone; subsequent calls will be answered by the system.

To remove the name in the window, on handset press mute/menu key twice, press the #1 key once and press mute/menu 6 times.

Hi I have a GE model 25942 phone. I lost the americn instructions and I need to know if there is any way to lower the ring. It is awfully loud.

Put the second handset in the main base charge cradle for 20 seconds. It should then turn to READY status.
