New Voice Mail

I have FiOs and used some of the info I gathered from this page to get my voice mail working now! To set up my voice mail I called my phone number (from the house phone), then pressed * when the automated system picked up...Your prompted to use a 4 digit pass code, which is the last 4 digits of your phone number (worked for me). From there I listened to the prompts and created a new "4 digit pw" as well as a "name password" by the end of the cycle. It then allowed me to listen to the messages on the phone and delete them! Phone finally says ready on it.

My phones are not working at says out of range.

When a cordless phone says "Out of Range" or "Searching for Signal", there are a number of possible issues (assuming you are close to the base). 1) The handset battery may be low and not taking a charge. If the battery is more than a year old (including time spent in storage), replace the batteries for both handsets.2) The base may not have power or an incoming telephone line signal. Check that the power adapter is warm (power to the base). Use another phone cord (and a second phone (preferably corded) to check for a dial tone). If a second phone has no dial tone, see below for diagnosing a phone line.3) The phone base has lost the registration information for the handsets. A way to reset the phone is to unplug the power cord (from both the wall outlet and the phone base) and the phone data line and unplug the batteries from all handsets. Wait several minutes then plug in the base power and data cords and then reconnect the phone batteries. You may want to re-register the handsets. This is done by putting the handset in the main charging base for 20 seconds when the handset is fully charged. (See your phone manual) The phone was made by Thomson Electronics for GE; the manual is available here: http://www.home-electronics.net/USER-GUIDES/25952_DOM_EN_CL_IB.pdf .4) The phone base or handsets are not transmitting or receiving the signals properly. This means that the phone needs repair or replacement. If it is under warranty, contact the manufacturer. Otherwise decide if the phone is worth the repair costs. If you have no dial tone at the jack where the base is connected, check another phone jack on that line. If you still have no dial tone, find where the phone service comes in. Then open the service box and if the service is fairly new, plug in the RJ-11 test phone and listen for a dial tone. If you can't plug in the phone cord or there is no dial tone, contact your service provider. They will test and fix any outside problem. If the problem is inside, inspect the visible wires. If you have a DSL filter as part of the inside wiring, check/replace it. If only one jack has a problem, open the faceplate and fix any loose wires. There are two faceplate designs - screw terminals or keystone jacks. For the screw-type, the conductors must be stripped and secured under the screws. For the keystones, the conductors are not stripped but pressed into the terminals with a punch-down tool. This tool is available at many home improvement stores in the wiring aisle. See http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx for a diagram of the wiring. If the problem is not in a visible part of your wiring, you may want a professional to find and fix the problem. Your telephone provider will be willing to do the work for a fee. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

I have this phone but I can't get the second

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

First, you can click on this link to view the user manual for your phone:

The user manual is in PDF format and may take a minute for it to load the page on your screen.

You state that you cannot get the second phone (handset?) to work. However you didn't specifically state the problem you're having. (ie., (1) won't turn on, (2) turns on but won't work with the other phone, (3) won't ring or (4) have a dial tone but won't dial out, etc.) So, I'll try a few solutions:

If the problem is that the phone will not turn on, check or replace the battery. You may be able to purchase a new one on eBay for less money.

If the Handset can not link to the base, your phone's manual instructs as follows:
• If any handsets become inoperable, place it on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-register.

Setting Up the Handset:

There are nine programmable menus available: Language, Handset Name, Area Code, Ringer ON/OFF, Ringer Tone, VIP Ring Tone, Tone/Pulse, Transfer and Default Setting.

During programming, you may press the mute/menu button at any time to go to the next option. Pressing mute/menu button takes you through the menu choices. When changes have been made to selected menu item, pressing the mute/menu button saves the changes and Confirmation Tone sounds. To exit the menu and keep the previous setting and return to the standby mode, press the *EXIT/tone button.

Display Language

1. Press the mute/menu button until 41ENG 2FRA 3ESP shows in the display. 1ENG is the default. (ENG stands for English. FRA stands for French. ESP stands for Spanish.)
2. Use the CALLER ID-VOLUME (5or6) button or the touch-tone pad on the handset to enter your selection.
3. Press mute/menu again to save.

Handset Name

1. Press the mute/menu button until ENTER NAME shows in the display.
2. Use the touch-tone pad to enter the name (up to 15 characters). More than one letter is stored in each of the number keys. For example, to enter the name Bill Smith, press the 2 key twice for the letter B. Press the 4 key 3 times for the letter I. Press the 5 key 3 times for the letter L. Wait for one second. Press the 5 key 3 times for the second letter L. Press th e 1 key to insert a space between the L and the S. Press the 7 key 4 times for the letter S; press the 6 key once for the letter M; press the 4 key 3 times for the letter I; press the 8 key for the letter T; press the 4 key twice for the letter H.
NOTE: If you make a mistake, use the chan/delete button to backspace and delete one character at a time.
3. Press mute/menu again to save.
NOTE: If no name is entered, READY shows in the display.

Local Area Code

This program setup allow you to setup how the incoming caller ID show on the display.
1. Press the mute/menu button until AREA CODE - - - shows in the display. "- - -" is the default.
2. Use the touch-tone pad on the handset to enter your three digit area code.
3. Press mute/menu again to save.
NOTE: If you make a mistake, press the chan/delete button to erase a wrong number.

Ringer ON/OFF

1. Press the mute/menu button until RINGER 41 ON shows in the display. 1ON is the default.
2. Use the CALLER ID-VOLUME (5or6) button or the touch-tone pad on the handset to scroll to 1 ON or 2 OFF .
3. Press mute/menu to save.
NOTE: If you turn the ringer off, RINGER OFF shows on the display.

Ringer Tone

You can choose from 10 ringtones.
1. Press the mute/menu button until RINGER TONE 401 shows in the display. 01 is the default.
2. Use the CALLER ID-VOLUME (5or6) button or the touch-tone pad on the handset to select from 01 to 10.
3. Press mute/menu to save.

VIP Ring Tone

This feature allows you to assign a specific ring tone to a number stored in Memory. It is recommended that you store a Caller ID record into Memory for this purpose.
1. Press the mute/menu button until VIP RING TONE shows in the display.
2. Press the desired memory location (0 through 9). If there is a number stored in the selected memory location, VIP RT 4DEFAULT shows in the display.
3. Press CALLER ID-VOLUME (5or6) on the handset to select from 01 to 10 or DEFAULT to use ring tone set in the Ringer Tone Menu or SILENT to silence ringer.
4. Press mute/menu to save.

Without specific information from you as to exactly what is not working properly, all I can do is to refer you to the user guide (see link above.)

Please reply (by selecting comment) if you need further assistance.

Unfortunately this phone system doesn't have outgoing calls log, you can use redial to see only the last dialed number, for incoming calls the system provides a 40 records log, for more details you can see and download its user manual at the link below:

Try resetting the base(main) unit with the answering machine on it.Unplug it for about 30 seconds then plug it back in.You should be able to use it then.If that doesn't work, try a different phone cord to the base.It should reset though. All this technology, and stupid junk like this happens all the time.Happens to our phone too.Nintendo Wii's too.Good luck!
