You apparently have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Press answer on/off button on base unit so it indicates answer on!

Most of the time your home phone service has a digital voice mail like your cell phone does. If the answering machine is set for an amount of rings that is too long the digital voice mail service will answer before your machine. The new cordless phone indicators do show messages on your digital voice mail as well as the answering machine. Depending on your home service, most of the time when you press talk and you hear a different non standard dial tone(mine pulses 3 times before going to solid dial tone) you have a digital message. You need to delete this message before the indicator light will stop flashing. Then set up you digital voice mail for a longer pickup time! This should get rid of this problem.

Hi Beth see page 5 of the Manual if this is indeed the model or it is similar. The Up and down arrows have dual functions. When call is active they serve as audio volume. Adjusting the Ringer Volume

You can choose from four ringer volume settings (off, low, medium, and high)

separately on each handset or the base.

With the phone in standby, press or on the handset or VOLUME or

VOLUME on the base. The handset or base sounds the ringer at that level.

Use on the handset or VOLUME on the base to make the ringer volume

louder. Use on the handset or VOLUME on the base to make it softer or

turn it completely off.

When you hear the ringer volume level you want to use, stop pressing keys.

The handset or base will use the new ringer volume starting with the next incoming call.

Note: If you set the ringer volume to Off, the handset or base won't ring. Other handsets or base will ring according to their individual settings.

I think they meant to power the phone off. Remove the batteries for about one minute. Then put it in a working charger. It should find the base unit within two minutes.

Check rechargeable battery pack connected, if correct then batteries could need replacing!
