Whirlpool RCS3014 Electric Cooktop - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I'm giving you the installation guide in case you need it:
Ther isn't a whole lot that can go wrong with these, you probably have a bad switch. Hopefully you have a false drawer or accsess to the bottom of it pull the knob off the switch in question, it nay have screws holding it in place from the top, if not, you'll have to get to the underside anyway, switch out the switch in question with one you know works. I beleive this will find your culprit.

the electric elements should unplug from their electric connectors. remove the knobs. see if the control panel lifts off, or screws off. after removing all of these things maybe you can tell how to get to the screws or how to remove the top of your cooktop.

Is this a ceramic hob? If it is, you will need a ceramic hob cleaner (john lewis does one) OR Astonish oven/pan cleaner, a non-scratch washing-up sponge and a fair amount of elbow grease. This works for me.

There should be a diagram in the installation instructions packed with the unit showing how to connect them.

Can you get to the switch terminals and try jumping them out with a piece of insulated wire? That would tell you if the switch is defective (my suspicion). Please be careful not to touch any live terminals - only the wire insulation you use for the jumper.

unplug it and replace the main board or get a new stove

What is the model number?

You didn't mention if it only pops when you first turn them on or that the popping is continuous.

If it when you first turn them on, then I would suspect late ignition. Too much gas build-up before ignition takes place. The spark gap may need to be adjusted or the spark module replaced.

If it happens continuously there may be a short in one of the switches or wiring harness.

Sometimes after a power failure the p c board needs re setting. Turn off the power for a few minutes that allows it time to re set. Turn it back on then individually turn on each element for a couple of minutes.

Recheck the wiring to that switch you replaced, the light circuit was wired wrong, some switch have moved terminals on them so recheck them all.

Good Luck

Lift the top of your stove, then look for a connector or plug, wire that has pushed up near or against the stove top. Where the wires connect to the burners one or more may be loose an needs tightening.

We discovered if you press in both the oven control knob and the temperature control knob simultaneously for several seconds, the stop message goes away and the oven returns to normal.
