you may be able to find a replacement handset on Ebay, they sell many such things...it probably is not worth trying to repair. Electronic devices have, and have had for many past years, a stipulation in the electronics area. Anyway, try Ebay, keep looking, you may find a replacement. finite lifespan, this is the reason for the introduction of the 'durable' www.ebay.com

Try this procedure to drain the static energy of the phone.

1. unplug power from base
2. unplug phone connection from base
3. remove cover and battery from handset
4. wait 10 minutes
5. put battery back, reattach phone connection and power

take the battery out and on the side will be the specification of the battery take the battery to a good battery shop or go to e-bay and type in the specs of the battery and search from there.

If GE remote is a Universal remote, look in manual for the code for your Philco and if it's fully functional as remote, you should be able to access the menu..
