20 Most Recent Whirlpool MH8150XJ Microwave Oven Questions & Answers

It is a bad keyboard error code. Try this, unplugg the unit, open the control panel and disconnect the ribbon cable from the control board, plugg back in, if f2 comes back on the board needs replacing, if it does not, then the problem is with the keypad.
F2 means you have a shorted membrane keypad, which would have to be replaced.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Hello
If your thinking this may be a saftey hazard then unplug it and get rid of it.
Was anything metal in it when you ran it? Aluminum foil? a hidden fork or spoon? These things can make a very loud sound.
If nothing strange was in there then i would unplug it and get a new one.

Buy the special screwdriver for the security screws. Unplug the machine. Wrap yourself in aluminium foil to protect you from microwaves. Find the sounder on the main board and fill it with epoxy resin. Don't touch the big capacitor looking thing as it stores 600 volts, just waiting to zap you, heart stoppingly so. Don't breathe too deeply as the magnetron core contains poisonous heavy metals. Now you know why it has security screws!

I think compared to the replacement cost of the complete combo you will find the microwave repair cost reasonable. Unless additional ventilation is provided to the rear and sides of your built in combo, a lack of circulating cooling air could have been at least part of the reason why your microwave failed - the electronics need lots of air circulation. You might want to address this while the unit is removed for repair. The voltages inside a microwave are potentially lethal and so the checking and repair is a specialised task...
