I changed the OS from Vista to Xp. Since then i have not been able to use the fingerprint reader. i found drivers on lenovo site but what software do i need to use?
Hi jerseydeals,
I did a search and found an XP driver from the Lenovo site for your laptop's finger print reader, just follow the link below:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-63663.html
Also, the reader is controlled by the OmniPass software, you can check it out from http://www.softexinc.com who developed it and find the version for XP though theere are other software to which you could use that reader as well. Hope this helps
Cheers and best regards,

administrator password forget
how to retrive suggeste
Forgetting your Windows administrator login password. With no way to get into the system, you can’t even perform basic maintenance, let alone a thorough tune-up. Formatting is always an option, but we consider that a last resort. (Plus, guess who’s going to have to help reinstall all the programs lost after a wipe?) But all hope is not lost. There are a few ways to actually retrieve a lost Windows account password. Read on, and we’ll show you the light.
1st Method:
The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.
2th Method:
There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but we’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
Windows Password Recovery Tool is one of the easiest password recovery tools to use. It allows you to reset a user account password, including the Administrator password. It is also a relatively small download.

Hi
Is it like when you turn on your computer it asks you for a BIOS password.
You need to open the notebook from the back and locate the small battery which looks like the shape of coin,
After locating it take that battery out and turn on your computer,
Once your computer is fully loaded then turn if Off,
Then put the battery back and turn on your computer
Try to go into BIOS.
I am sure you will be able to go into BIOS.

Dear all,
I have Lenovo n100 , I have installed windows vista and trying to make the fingerprint reader work but with no luck.
I have installed the device , and fingerprint reader softwares, but the software doesn't detect any device for fingerprint.
any advices.
If you can find out what kind of bios you have it would help us greatly. When you first start up your computer i need to know the first name you see. It probably appears on the first splash screen along with the computer companies logo. But you are going to have to go into bios and turn the fingerprint scanner on.
Or And i should have mentioned this first... You have to go into the control panel and double click on the system icon. Once in the system properties select the device manager. If it is turned on in bios it may be disabled in this list you should be seeing.
I run windows xp so i'm not sure of how to get to the device manager but it will be real close to the above directions. You are going to have to enable the device and reinstall the drivers

Battery problem-plugged in, not charging. Lenovo 3000
N100.Type:0768.Model:24U.S.no:L3LA215. Please offer a solution.
Had the same problem with a manufactured refurb, would go to 79 %, if you go to power options, change plan settings, change advance power settings, then to the Lenovo energy management tab, press the big enable Lenovo energy management, click on the blue gear to the left of the question mark, if "Optimize for Battery lifespan" is selected it will only charge the battery to 80%, change this to "Optimize for Battery Runtime" and it will charge to 100%

Have a N100 notebook and battery does not recharge and now runs on AC power but would shut off by itself very shortly after switching it on. Brought a new AC adapter and battery straight from the lenovo website, received it, but did not solve the problem. I called lenovo directly they are not sure what could be the cause of the problem. They never heard of this problem. Laptop is only a year or so old, and only use couple hours a day. Wondering if anyone have the same problem and had it resolve, I would appreciate any insights you can offer. Thank you in advance for you help! Hello.
My N100 0768 is running Vusta. It will not charge the battery and it shuts down at random times but never gets hot. It lasted 6 minutes the first time I tried to boot it after I got it back from an authorized Lenovo repair shop, and then when I reboot it again it lasted only 3 minutes.
Lenovo replaced the fan, and that resolved the shut down problem for less than 30 days. Just yesterday, the repair shop replaced the mother board and then the CPU, that did not resolve the problem. It seems that the longer the laptop is turned off, the longer it will stay on once it is booted.
It does not even stay on long enough for me to backup all my files. Lenovo wants me to restore it to the factory defaults, and that means I will lose all my programs and all my data. The shut down occurs even if I do not load Vista.
found solution on another web forum it worked.

Lenovo comes with one touch recovery function. I'm not an hardware expert but i guess this means some preconfiguration of hard drive disk. I bought Lenovo/ DOS and installed windows by my own. Now I want to create an image of my windows or in other words how can i make that one key recovery functioanl on my system. Do I need to re-install windows? Does this only works with Windows Vista? Please advise.
Hi..
First you have to download this One Key recovery application from Levono's official site - lenovo.com. Just run the application and the installation process should help you thru..
I hope this helps.. please vote.
Thanks - billa

how to format a lenovo laptop
If you have the OEM Lenovo XP disc are you have to do is insert and follow the instruction. If you are using off the shelf software, then switch the BIOS SATA to compatibility mode, and boot from your CD drive with the disc in it, and format the harddrive followed by installing the software.( like Windows XP or the Vista)
