SETTING A ROUTER AS A REPEATER1. Connect your computer to the repeater router's RJ45 portwith a LAN cable. 2. the router u have is a bit old, a router can keep going good if u keep updating it.
to update your router first log in to router
1)open a internet explorer and in address bar type in 192.168.2.1 it will open the page for router.
2) select the tab device
3) select check for update
4)the latest firmware for this device is 3.93.35.0.9
5) if u have lower than this u need to update which would solve your problem
6)if update is available click continue it would download the file on to your computer
7) now click browse and select the file then click upgrade

1. Type http://192.168.2.1 into your web browser address line to log into the 5461. (If you have changed the default IP address, please enter your own)
2. Enter your user name and password.
3. Once logged in, select the Wireless tab.
4. You can see the wireless security from there or network key

It's most likely easier for you to just reset the router.
There's probably a reset button on the back of the router that will allow you to default the network settings, removing the unknown wireless key.

To restore the factory default settings, use a paperclip to press in and hold the RESET button for five to ten seconds. If the RESET button is pressed for less than five seconds, the Wireless MAXg Router will reboot.

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

Just reset it! At the back of the router is a small hole.With a toothpick or some like press gently for 30 seconds and wait for the router to start up again.Log in to http://192.xxx.xxx and start a new configuration.

If this is a new router that you want to setup on your modem, in order for it to work fine the router and modem should be connected by a cable.

From modem going to the Internet/AN port of the router and then your computer can be connected to the remaining port of the router.

If you ever want to erase all personal settings of your router, come to this area and click Reload to restore the factory default settings. All the current settings will be lost. If you change the router's configuration and it stops functioning properly you can reload the factory settings to fix it.
The other method to restore the factory default settings is to press in and hold the RESET button on the Wireless MAXg Router for between five and ten seconds. You will lose all of your personal settings if you restore the factory default settings. You might need to do this if you are unable to access the Web User Interface or have forgotten your password.

to get back ur default password u have to rest ur router.

You need to log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default usernameand password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change whether security is enabled or disabled, and the password associated with it. Your security options are WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice. Select the security option of your choice and either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (ie-pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then click on wireless settings then wireless security then enable WEP and enter WEP code it is your password to connect wifi. Then save settings and restart router.
