I would replace the DG Board. There hard to come by for this TV. I saw one on eBay about a week ago for $75.00 witch is a very good price for this part.

For a 58" screen, it's almost certainly worth repairing. If I remember correctly, it's the DSP. Take it to a local repair shop, and let them know you've been told to check the digital signal processor, and see what they can do for you. It may need to be programmed, or replaced.

This one is going to take a little diagnosis. At this point the best way to narrow it down is to find a pattern. Is the area effected around 1/6th of the entire screen? The screen is broken into sections in the X-Y plane. If you can narrow the area down to a fraction of hte entire screen area, it will help to determine the section of the circuitry that is having a problem. Strangely enough, it could be as simple as a poor connection from the panel to the driver circuitry. The signal levels inside are extremely low and it does not take much to create a problem. If hte unit is no longer under warranty, I would first remove the back and carefully reseat all of the cables and connectors. Since this is not completely reproducible, proving that it is "fixed"ay not be so easy.

Again, look for patterns and X-Y plane areas.
