1. The thermal overload protection circuit automatically turns off the receiver's amplifier if it overheats.
2. The overdrive protection circuit automatically turns off the amplifier if too much power is being drawn from it.
If a protection circuit turns off the amplifier, the PROTECTION indicator comes on.
If this happens, press POWER to turn off the receiver's power. Check for proper ventilation and proper speaker connections, and be sure the speakers have an impedance of 8 to 16 Ohms.
The protection circuits usually reset in only a few minutes, so you can turn on and use the receiver again. The circuits seldom take longer than 30 minutes to reset.
If the receiver stops working and the PROTECTION indicator is not on, please replace the Fuse.
I have the same receiver, but have been unable to program it with my Universal Code. I do not have the original remote. Did you find a code that controlled it? I found one website that had the owners manual online, maybe that would help:

You can not "reset" protection mode. This is an indication of a defect. Disconnect the speaker wires completely and if the protection mode remains, then the problem is internal to the unit and is likely to be shorted output transistors. Expect a parts cost in the $20-$50 range for this repair.
This is most likely a dirty laser lens on the CD drive. You can try a CD lens cleaner, but they don't work all the time.
To do a better cleaning job, open up the unit yourself so that you can get to the laser lens, use a qtip and dip it in alcohol 70% and wipe the lens clean.
Here is a example video on how to clean a laser lens, you clean all the laser lenses this way:
After cleaning the lens, it should work normally. if it does not, attempt to clean it atleast 2 more times.
If the problem still remains, the laser or the optics are failing, you might be able to fix the issue by replaceing the laser assembly on the cd drive. But It may be cheaper to replace the unit instead of replacing hard to find parts.
Your best bet is to contact MCM electronics and use their cross-reference service to get a more common belt number. They should have the belts that you need. I would give you the numbers, but I don't have a listing for your specific model.
The fact that you are getting static at least is good. Without knowing allot of the background to your problem, first thing to check is if the aerials are correctly connected. If it is any help to you, here is an excerpt from the originalowners manual about the connection of the AM loopstick.
If the aerials are coinnected right, then let me know and we can investigate other options. Cheers

Claim on the warranty irrespective of how long you have had them. They charge $180 but they cost them $20 to buy from China. Package them up and send them tracked and ask them to replace the batteries.
How long is the warranty on AfterShokz?
