Most often it will require an output IC, but I have seen it be a bad ground or a transistor in the protect circuit.

We have a Optimus STAV-3770 that is stuck on 'Muting'. Have tried everything we can think of to no avail. Even purchased a new remote.Is there a solution.

Switch off the mains supply before connecting/disconnecting any cables. Disconnect all the speaker cables and switch on. If the fault clears carefully check the speaker wiring for shorts before reconnecting. If the fault is not in the speaker wiring or speakers the amplifier will need expert attention. Faulty speaker wiring can easily damage solid state amplifiers.

Optimus sta-2160 manual

I suggest trying the RadioShack DOT Com website first and do a search for the STA-2160. They should have it, as they have many of their devices' manuals on the RadioShack website. Good luck.
