take the side shell off and look for the small white ribbon box that the cable plugged into and insert the cable back into the slot then replace the side cover

Probably has a belt or gear broken, check carefully for any signals of damaged.

The heads are dirty and the tape is binding to them. Buy a head cleaning tape and run for the recommended time. Or if no cleaning tape available, buy a recommended cleaning soution and gently clean heads or head roller with an earbud. Heads are always bright chromium finish, and they are positioned internally to align with the central area of the tape cassette...

Usually i have seen many people asking the Same Question. Most of the time, it is not the Door but the motor and the Circuitry needs to be replaced. Most of the time, you need a Repairman to Fix this. The cost is not too High.

However, you could try the below Trick :-

1. Take out the Battery and the AC Cord.
2. Turn the Camera ON ( Tape, Memory, Edit Settings ) for 15 Seconds.
3. Turn Camera to Off Settings.
4. Plug Battery or AC Cord Back In.

Holding it Firmly with one hand and hitting the bottom of the cam as hard as you can 3 or 4 times. Plug it Back In and it may work.

You can purchase a new LCD Flex cable for a Sony HDR-HC3 (Same as HDR HC7) from e-bay for 27 US$.
You can also download free service manual from internet that explains simple repair.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the camcorder will not turn on.

1. Remove the battery from the camcorder.
2. Connect the AC power adapter to the camcorder.
3. Plug the AC power adapter into a working electrical outlet.
4. Attempt to turn on the camcorder.
5. Reset the camcorder back to factory settings.
NOTES:

• If the camcorder does not operate using the AC adapter, service may be required .
• If the camcorder does operate using the AC adapter, proceed with the steps below to troubleshoot the battery.
