How do i shut mac off then put start up disk in ?
Simple. Load the Apple System start-up disc first while the computer is running. You should see its icon on on the screen. Then select restart from the Apple Menu on the top left of the screen. Hold down the C key as it reboots. You will now boot into the start-up disc. This method also applies to Disc Warrior and other tools. Alternately, with the computer already running, insert the Apple System start-up disc then go to System Preferences also under the Apple menu, Under the start-up disc icon, select your apple system icon and restart.
Third alternative. With the computer running insert Apple System start-up disc. Restart the computer. Before the chime, press and hold the option key, left-hand bottom side of the keyboard to the left of the Apple (Command) key. You will see your system HD icon and the screen as well as your Apple System disc. Click on the System Disc and that will boot the machine.
Mac screen moves with mouse
the new mouse is delicate and sensitive, both of which can be turned down in system preferences. the "gestures" on the mouse are such that the screen moves when you swipe your finger. Gestures can also be turned off in System Preferences under Mouse
End of File Error encountered (-39)
By chance did you save docs to external backup, if not do so and continue to do so.
it would better if you try a reinstall of the programme, better still download latest update, hopefully that will resolve. Glitch
Reboot without a disk
You may have to go to single user mode and start from the terminal. Difficult. Otherwise, zap the p-ram by holding down the Apple Option, P and R kets at the same time after you here the chime. This should reset enough to get you running. Maybe. Or, hold down the shift key will restarting to start in safe mode. Or, hold down the option key will restarting and select your start-up drive from the menu,
Mouse moves screen down
What kind of mouse is it? Does it need batteries? If so, may be indication that new one(s) are needed. Would be better to get the energizer batteries 6x or 8x. Also check the surface the mouse is on, in addition to making sure lens (red section under mouse) has no dust or 'stuff' on it
