GE JVM1740DM Microwave Oven - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
No power
If
your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the
mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to
the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY
USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual
cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or
sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the
appliance.
Hope this helps.

Does not heat food
Toss out the old magnetron and replace with a new one old chap. Also, make sure you discharge the capacitor before tinkering around inside or it will shock the hell out of you.

Touch pad not working properly
That sounds like the interface controller which is just a little computer chip that cotrols everything and watches the signals from the touchpad is having problems. Usually these will behave like this and then just stop so your touchpad is totally dead. It may take out the time displays as well.
If you have warrenty from GE or the store it will be covered. If you are not covered then it can cost about the same or more as a new microwave as they will have to replace the board. Check your warrenty's, then check the repair cost and check replacement costs. Usually a new microwave is the cheapest.

My GE space maker model JVM240BL001 the power is on the digital display reads Enter NORM SOUND 2
Hello, friend! It is noteworthy that if the GE Spacemaker microwave model JVM240BL001 is displaying "Enter NORM SOUND 2" on the digital display, it indicates that the microwave is in the programming mode for adjusting the sound level. To exit this mode and return to normal operation, you can try the following steps:
- Press the "Clear" or "Cancel" button. This should clear the programming mode and bring the microwave back to its normal state.
- If pressing the "Clear" or "Cancel" button doesn't work, you can try unplugging the microwave from the power outlet for about a minute. Then plug it back in and see if it resets the display.
- If the issue persists, consult the user manual for your specific model. The manual may provide additional instructions or troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
