Can you locate the motor?

See parts manual at link below. It doesn't show exactly where the cap is mounted but you should be able to follow leads from the motor to capacitor.

You have lost 1st gear. The gearbox will require dismantling and replacement of the 1st gear part (diving key) if they are still avaliable. I wouldrecommend contacting yout local hobart call center and speaking to their technical team about the age and probability of parts

There is a small diving key in the gearbox that has most likely snapped. If this is an old model a200 then this part may not be avaliable any more. You would need to contact your local hobart service center to find out if the parts are avaliable still. These are fantastic machine that will work forever and a year, they certainly don't build them like those anymore

After the pin is removed, place a flat-blade screw driver at opposite sides of the planetary in the small gap between it and the housing. Gently pry off the planetary.

what ever the grease is used it must be food grade grease even though the mixer is old, the grease and oils will still be the same and may even be better than original specs what is more important is the replacement of the shaft seals to prevent lubricant leakage

* Model? Check side plate or post picture so I can check. * Usually leaks are at the bearing seal(s). Replace. * Frequent seal changes (less than 1-3 months). Replace bearings and seals. * Check shaft near bearing seals for pitting (rust) that will damage seal. Remove and have a machine shop refurbish part. If possible; replace whole part and bearings. (or rebuild gear box.) * Call your Hobart service rep for a quote. * Check and replace lost oil as needed until machine is rejected (inspector, quality control, maintenance, etc.) Be careful oil does not get into food product. The grease is a toffee colour when new. It shouldn't fill the cavity completely. The older a200 mixers are usually very reliable, they need the fiber gear replacing every now and then, other than that it will run on. I've seen some out there that are almost 50 years old and going strong

The reverse of how you put it in. Look at the other attachments and is should be pretty obvious. Sounds like it might be a bit gummed up, do be frightened to be a lottlemheavy handed with it

Hello, Fran - The Whirlpool Corporation purchased the Hobart Kitchen Aid manufacturing unit in 1985. I suggest you contact the Whirlpool Corp. directly and ask about the availability of a copy of a user manual for your model of Hobart mixers. Honestly, get someone in that knows Hobart mixers. The a200 is an amazing machine, but you will need to strip the entire gearbox apart to get to the bearings. Take this from someone who works for Hobart :)
